Half Kings/half Monarchs roster doing OK against an almost full Anaheim lineup. The only regulars out for the Ducks are Palmieri (injured) and Smith-Pelly. Kings are missing Quick, Kopitar, Doughty, Gaborik, Brown and Martinez.

Ducks really want to win this for the fans.
First game vs the Kings, the Ducks loaded the ice as well.
Kings know who is making the team, with only needing to know who will be in the press box.

3-2 Kings after 2 periods. Carter with a couple. Jones looks sharp in goal.

Kesler with the nail in the Ducks coffin ( penalty with 205 left)

That's pretty typical of Kesler. Nice game by the Kings. 4-2 win, Carter with the hat-trick and Jones with 33 saves in a stellar performance.

Ducks not working together
I think they only have one more preseason game.
Kings working ok together but played mostly their AHL guys.
Waiting for Vegas game to really see the team.

So... I live down in the OC now and my new company had the Kings/Ducks tickets available. Got to sit on the glass at the pond for the game Sunday. Jones looks ridiculously good. I was pretty much floored by some of his saves. Carter got some bounces but he was in the right spots and looked good. As soon as Toffoli, Pearson, and Carter were put back together, they dominated. The forwards are definitely not the issue this year. A lot of new guys I didn't recognize on the back end, so hopefully Mitchel's replacement emerges because even though he was getting older, he was a huge part of both runs. Kings really missed him in 2013.

As we were leaving Gayward had nothing but praise for Kesler and how big he is going to be for the Ducks. I didn't really see him do anything except be a typical Canuck and take a penalty with under 2 to play. Canuck motto: Either diving or instigating something at all times. Kings killed two 5vs3's with he, Perry, and Getzlaf on this ice. I forgot that the Ducks also have Heatley now. That is a big front top 6. Perry/Getzlaf/Kesler/Heatley. The latter two are def not in their primes though.

A little off topic, but my honest critique of Getzlaf is that he passes too much. He has this tunnel vision for Perry and it really hinders him. He is ridiculously skilled and just messes up his own game. Perry is a douche, but less threatening in my opinion. He will go the net and get garbage, but Getzlaf is the guy that makes it happen out there. Lucky for the Kings, he doesn't shoot more. (I know Perry won the MVP a few years back but just watching the past few years, I think Getzlaf is a lot better).
