Lots of talk about Tommy and his health. He is going through the concussion protocol this week. Should he play this Saturday if cleared?

If he gives us the best shot to win. then absolutely. we are still playing for the conference championship if Minny can beat Wisky.

If the medical staff gives the all clear, he should play. I would assume that if he is unfit to play, they will hold him back, they know the risks.

If our concussion lab gives the medically cleared and Tommy wants to play, then I am in favor of Mr. Armstrong playing the game.

There is no way in hell he could be concussed if the hospital allowed him to run back to the game with his scrubs on by himself.

I don't think the hospital is going to be able to diagnose a concussion. They can diagnose brain trauma with imaging and interview for signs of concussion but will only give precautions to watch for. IMO, to go back and watch the rest of the game with his team mates only means he had no traumatic brain injury.

To the original question though, if he's cleared, can play and wants to then play.

I'm no doctor. If they say he can play, he can play.

No, he should take game off and recoup. If it was a matter of them in game to win division than maybe, but winning the division is not likely, so why risk further injury?

Because winning the division is not out of the question.

Because if he is cleared to play then those who are trained to know have said he doesn't need to recoup and he only has 4 more games to play, most likely for the rest of his life. If he wants to play, let the guy guy play.

When you are knocked out cold, you have a concussion

So blacking out in any way is just automatically a concussion?

Man when I got my concussion they wouldn't let me take 10 steps without someone accompanying me. This dude just hopped out of a car and took off trucking back across the field to the sideline. Then started grabbing face masks and pumping people up.

He didn't look too confused to me.

Because winning the division is not out of the question.

Though not out of question, I think the chances are less than 10%. If he is cleared and he wants to play, then I have no issue with him playing.

The players actually like Fyfe better. They'll play harder for him.

Contrary to what some of you might believe, Tommy is not widely liked or respected on the team. Call it a source, call it what you want, but I know this for a fact.

Does that translate? Nope.

I think it was a B1G coach (can't remember which one) who said he was looking out last year before the game watching our QB's warm up and said to himself "well that's an automatic win for us if 17 goes in"

Tommy isn't respected at all by other B1G coaches either, but not nearly as looked down upon as Fyfe.

If Tommy doesn't go, we're losing this game. Point blank period.
