we need stability at qb so i would turn it down
the picks could help the defense to about middle of the pack but colt and suds wont get us 10 wins or a legit shot in a playoff game .
that means we are looking for a qb (AGAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIN ) . not resigning KC could affect FA signings as well
i am not sure losing both garcon and djax is a good thing
does VD alshon jeffrey or kenny britt want to catch passes from a rookie or colt mccoy ?
if you let KC go then the franchise will be set back a year or 2 in its development
i dont see a repeat of the giants defense through free agency deal nor do i see a dak prescott happening again
IM in total agreement with everything you say here. But the elephant in the room as always is, what vision does the owner have for the position. Because we all know, if Danny is not happy with Kirk as his face of the franchise our 4 headed monster will move in a different direction.
What if the 49ers offer more money to KC than us? I don't the 49ers will part with there top two picks.
Kirk wont go there by accident. I see us using the Exclusive tag on him. So what they offer wont matter to us because if they get to make an offer, it means we already traded his rights. And i dont think Scot will trade his rights if the deal doesnt include the #2 pick. Or rather I will say there is no way we SHOULD trade his rights if we are not getting the #2 pick at a minimum.
True. It all depends if the organization wants to pay him top money or not. I can see why if we don't sign KC and take the picks from the 49ers. I like KC but he is not a top 5 QB in the NFL. Just by having KC on this roster does not guarantee a playoff spot. We do take a step back if he does leave but the rebuilt will be in better shape.
If we dont have Kirk, the rebuild is likely starting over. Because lets be clear. People are hinting that we can plug almost any average QB in and they could do what Kirk did. If we deal Kirk, we are betting Grudens job on this being true. Because if we draft a rookie, or bring in a retread and finish say 6-10... Gruden will be fired at the end of the season. Not a doubt in my mind on that one.
I could take or leave Gruden. He hasn't show me anything as a head coach. He is horrible at time management and seems like he is just a OC. If we don't have KC then more talented players through the draft or FA will be on this team. SO you cant predict a losing record.
Can you see why the front office MIGHT have doubts on KC?
Oh I most certainly can and will predict a losing record. Dallas last year was the exception to the rule. How often do teams with Rookie QBs improve on their previous record?? We dont have the ground game or the defense to support this kind of move. Though I doubt that stops them from making it if thats the direction they want to go in. Remember that this time two years ago people were calling for Gruden to get fired, and twice as loudly when it was announced that Cousins would start. Right now I honestly say its 50/50 as to if we keep Cousins. But if we dont, and we end up getting the type of QB I suspect the owner and a rather good portion of the fanbase want, I do see a losing record. Because the Dak Prescotts and Russell Wilsons of the world dont fit the Gruden offense.
And yes I can see why the front office has doubts on Kirk, but I dont think those doubts are based in what he is, but rather what he isnt.
Its not necessarily a rookie would start for us if KC leaves. The defense would be upgraded dramatically if KC leaves. I agree a certain type QB will fit Grudens offense.
There are doubts based on what he is b/c he hasn't shown the organization that he can win the big game in playoff time. Just looks at the huge Int's he as thrown in Dec. Yes he beat Philly last year but the end to last season has a bad taste in the organization mouth. IF he won the Car or NYG game last year I don't think we would be having this conversation.
You have to realize that KC is going to want to be the highest paid QB in the league. So in this case you have to explore all options before making this decision. Some people on here think its a slam dunk to resign him but it isn't. Especially now when Kyle is taking the SF job and he needs a QB. This makes SM job even tougher.
Dude, you say this like EVERY QB hasnt at some point thrown a huge game clenching INT. In most cases more than once. As i have said quite a few times, if the defense could have held up in a couple of the games where Kirk handed them the lead with 3 minutes or less left, we would not have been in the situation of needing to win the giants game. We would have clenched the playoffs two weeks prior.
But again IM starting to hope we do let him go simply for the fact that the fanbase and owner seemed happiest when we had the mobile flashy QB. So the hell with steadily improving. Kirk going to the Niners might be the best thing for him, and at least this fanbase will get a new savior for a hot minute.
But the guys on the defense are not asking to be the highest paid in the league. If KC wants to be on top you have to compare him to the Brady,Ben, and Rodgers of the world. Its the money factor that matters here. Those guys have proved it. KC hasn't and wants to get paid like he has that is the point The money is crazy today do you have to be absolutely sure KC is the guy.
NO its the money factor being used as an excuse to go in a different direction.
I will say it like this. If the defense had held up in ONE game, the Detroit game, changing NOTHING else, we make the playoffs. You have no idea what Kirk is asking for. But I think you and many others have already assumed that unless he is willing to take a deal for LESS than what Oswieler made, we shouldnt resign him.
Of course money is the issue. That is why KC wont accept the Osweiler deal. He probably wants to start at the Luck deal. KC has all the leverage. He wont underbid himself. Especially now that Kyle is in SF. ITs all about money in this case. He knows that he can play on the tag for 24m. He knows that if the Skins want to sign him to a long term deal the price starts at the Luck deal. He knows that if the Skins balk at his demands he will get the same offer from SF. We are screwed in this negotiation. KC has way too much leverage on our team.
Yes the defense blew some leads but it did protect some too. Plus you can fault KC on the first Dal game, ARi, Car, and NYG. We can play this game all day Shark.
NO actually we cant. I actually hope he does go to the Niners, this owner and fanbase deserve the shit show that will follow that move. Showing the same old Redskins ways in new and interesting colors. Willing to over pay other teams free agents, but any time one of our own wants to get paid... oh no he isnt worth THAT!
Wait a minute. So you feel if the SKins don't give KC what he is asking for then the organization deserves to suck? What if he wants more than the Luck deal? What if the 49ers will give us high draft picks? I don't see why you want to give this guy a blank check. I don't fault the team to pass on him if he is over valued. We don't know the numbers yet but I have a hard time in believing that he would take less than the Luck deal.
By Kyle going to SF it gave the Skins more options to explore. Do you understand that?
Again dude, the only people saying oh we cant give him the luck deal.. or more. Are also the people that want another mobile QB type any way. Cutler is on a $126M dollar contract... Taylor is on a $90M contract. Would you agree Kirk is better than and thus should get paid more than these two??
