Lol just can’t get over it. A team full of 5 stars loses to an 11-21 team from the Missouri valley? Lmao

I wouldn't go that far lol. Both are upsets of epic proportions but I think UMBC's win is MUCH better than this one.

I would agree.

UVA was the way bigger upset.

We're through 1 week of this season. Rankings mean nothing.

These betting spreads are a joke. I got to take advantage of some of these crazy betting lines.

Only reason you could consider Virginia’s loss bigger is cause it happened in the tourney but in all reality, this loss is much much worse

Either Evansville is really good this year or did Kentucky take a step back?

Nah...

UK hasn't done shit this year.

There's been other years where UK has been ranked #1 and finished out of the polls or misses the tournament all together.

We've seen this show before...

I'm reading that the money UK is giving UE for this contest is $90k.

I think Kentucky laid a turd. Evansville has never been that good in the mvc and is not predicted to be any good this year. I watched the second half and Kentucky just didn’t play winning basketball. As an MVC fan (Illinois State), I don’t see Evansville winning the conference, but the predictions for this conference are almost always very very wrong, so who knows?

This pretty much tells you that early polls don't mean a damn thing when a #1 ranked team gets beaten at Rupp Arena by Evansville

Purple Aces?

In the 1920s, the name Aces arose after a local sports writer wrote in a game story of the men's basketball team, "They played like Aces.". The team has been known as the Aces and/or Purple Aces ever since. Evansville has won five Division II national championships (1959, 1960, 1964, 1965, 1971).

Reminds me of the story for how Alabama got its nickname.

That's insanity. Being the first ever number one to lose to a a team that only was in the tournament because of a fluke conference tournament run is so much worse. That is history. This game will be a footnote.

UMBC doesn't even make it to the NCAA Tournament without a buzzer beater in the AEC Championship against Vermont. To go from that to beating the Overall 1 their next game is an accomplishment that can never be matched in November.
