I think you just answered your own question. Any top team that gets hot and can handle having a lead is capable of bringing Kenftucky down. You can have a bad game against UGA and pull out the win.. they just aren't really any good. Can you say the same if you play Duke, Virginia or Wisconsin? Probably not. You walk away with a loss.

the post I responded to said a team that can MATCH SIZE and get hot could beat Kentucky. by his own definition that is probably 2-3 teams in the country. I maybe high with that number. Not that it matters, but not many NBA teams can match Kentucky's size

Texas is the only team that comes close to matching UK in size. I find it highly unlikely that they meet in th eSEC tournament, and Texas is looking doubtful for the NCAA too.

There are some other teams that have very skilled player and can match UK in terms of talent at each position, but nobody has the size, and nobody has the depth.

Oh,ok. Yeah, the matching size part of that doesn't make sense. The teams I'm thinking of that can take down UK are going to do it by being hot from behind the arc.. not matching them in size.

Definitely. UK has no 3. That worries in the tourney, because they will see a legit SF there. On ball defense is a bit lacking at the guard spot. A good shooting big man is able to take a Stein or Towns out of the paint, which is a major blow to the defense. Off ball movement is the key to scoring against Kentucky

Yes and no. UK's "offense" doesn't really need a true 3, and anybody they're going to be playing at the 3 is more than capable of handling things on defense so I don't foresee that being an issue.

A good shooting big man is going to be a problem for most team but for UK it really isn't as big of a problem. Typically when you lure the center out of the paint to play perimeter defense it leaves the basket free of a rim-protector, which leaves you vulnerable to dribble penetration. In UK's case they are so long at the 4/5 if one big ends up out on the perimeter you still have a 6'10" guy down low.

It would make for an interesting matchup but I would still take UK against Wisconsin (that's who we're really talking about, right?)

3 is an issue on defense. Lyles can't handle a quick 3. Guards aren't great at stopping penetration. UK's defense is the best in the country when Cauley-Stein and Towns can patrol the paint. They are merely good with 1. Most teams will have seen 1 shot blocker already. Really key is off ball cuts, Georgia killed them with that. Their big men were in constant motion.

When they face a quick 3, isn't that when they usually go with a smaller lineup and Booker or one of the Harrisons playing the 3?

they can be out muscled. just a tough match up. That doesn't matter if 2 7 fters are on in the paint. Why I say a good shooting big man is problematic. It exposes the flaws of relatively slow footed guys playing 1-3 spots, thinking Harrisons and Lyles. Granted not a lot of teams can bring all that.
