basically Shanahan's offense is based on bootlegs, I can see now why they drafted Kurt Cousins (who's a student of the game) as well

I think there are two reasons why this hasn't been discussed very much. First, everyone cited this issue as a reason why Cam Newton would struggle as a rookie and then he goes out and puts up the best rookie season for a QB in the history of the league. Second, people continuously discuss RGIII's intelligence based on his academic performance in high school and college (though I suppose it could be noted that his wonerlic was considered average).
