Hate to see the young man get in trouble like this but this is going to open up room for more of our other guys to play like Mixon and Ross because we know Perine is going to get the rock first.
I'll reserve judgment until knowing more, which we probably will never know exactly what's going on. I'll ask my guy if he can give me some insight. Been plenty of kids here fuck up and get their shit together later (Broyles is a prime example). Gotta hope for his sake he can pull it together and make something out of his time in Norman.
The parents of suspended OU running back Keith Ford issued a statement Tuesday on their son's suspension.
In the statement, Keith and Mary Ford say that the actions that prompted Ford's indefinite suspension for a violation of both academic and team rules "were uncharacteristic of our son's behavior." The statement, as obtained by the Tulsa World's Guerin Emig:
"Although we respect the decision of Coach Stoops to suspend our son from the football team the actions that prompted this decision were uncharacteristic of our son's behavior. We believe Keith never recovered completely (physically and/or mentally) from the injury that occurred in the Tennessee game. After speaking with several medical professionals we found that this is not uncommon among athletes after suffering extensive injury. Therefore, we brought this to the attention of Coach Stoops and the OU Staff and they are actively engaged in helping Keith. When Coach Stoops told us "I will never shut a kid out" he solidified our complete trust and confidence in the OU program. We are praying for the return of Keith Ford #21."
