I'd think you keep Mookie. He's a little younger
Is it worse than being owned by a corporation?Hope the Indians pick up J.D...ohh wait that is impossible with their cheap ass old fart owner
I did the math. The money due to player raises and arbitration is roughly equivalent to money coming off the books. If the GM really wants to get below the LT threshold, an additional $20+ million contract has to go. I think getting rid of Mookie or JD will be an enormous mistake. But, you won't find a taker for the other huge contracts (Sale, Price, Eovaldi) without offering a huge discount. So the team is kinda fucked.
Not the ideal scenario but probably the best one available to them, assuming they can find a trade partner for JD (because I don't see JD exercising his option).Let JD go (its up to JD not the sox) and sign mookie Prospects are always a crap shoot
I wonder if they could buy out Pedroia's remaining contract years so that his salary will not appear on the annual payroll?
only if he retires and doesnt get paidI wonder if they could buy out Pedroia's remaining contract years so that his salary will not appear on the annual payroll?
This going to be an unpopular offseason for Red Sox fans, it appears.
