They're not going to do anything yet.

We don't even have some of the story, let alone the entire story.

If he gets arrested and they do nothing then they will have a pr nightmare. Voynov wasn't charged until a month after he was suspended by the NHL and we no info then. We don't know what the NHL knows. RoR has been forgotten but his wasn't abuse against a woman.
Doughty was never suspended, but that was pre Rice. I have to think if an arrest or charges happen then Kane will have to sit with pay. The league can't claim that beating your wife is offensive but raping a barfly is just boys being boys

WTF is going on in the NHL? All of a sudden they are acting like NBA and NFL players. I don't get it, this sport is known for its honor and being different from other sports where their players act like a bunch of morons.

I think the NHL players have been holding back their stupidity for a while now and the cork has finally popped out of the bottle.

Good point, probably what the case actually is.

Here in my city of Yorba Linda, which is a very low crime area in OC (and the nation in general - this place was voted the wealthiest city in America within the last 10 years based on per capita income. Pretty sure it has been replaced since then, but essentially that means of the 65,000 residents or so, most people make some serious money or have high net worths. It's a bunch of old, rich white people. I got lucky - unlucky, actually - and inherited the house I live in when my dad passed, otherwise there is no way I could afford to live here to raise my family), I'm part of the FB community page. People are always posting things about helicopters, they saw this, that, etc. and residents started to question whether or not the crime rate has risen because of its reputation as a safe city.

I spoke to an OC Sheriff not too long ago (we don't have our own PD - it was contracted to Brea, the city next door, for decades until they lost the contract in 2012. Has been a massive improvement, let me tell you. Brea cops are idiots) and he said crime here has not risen, we as a community are just more aware of it now with social media and all that stuff. Back in the 1990s before this, no way we would know about a teenager driving erratically and crashing into a retaining wall. Now we do, and now we are more aware, and thus the perception changes.

Probably the same thing with NHLers, things like cocaine and oxy have been rampant forever but now we hear about it more often.

Agree Puck about the perception of crime being worse due to the instant access to everything that happens.

Some of the "details" are being batted about. This could be a distraction for the Hawks.
Only thing good about this is that the Kings are off the front page for stupidity

That is a good thing. But Stoll got arrested and the NHL did nothing. It seems that there is a double standard. Like some of fences are viewed as being worse than others. It's amazing to me that being arrested for drugs doesn't carry the same weight as being arrested for Domestic or r*pe. I think the only difference should be the length of the punishment, but there should be a punishment.

The NHL has a Substance Abuse Program in place, they do not have one for r*pe, DV, etc.

There are stages in the SAP, and when a player is busted on these types of charges they enter the program. No doubt in my mind Stoll has started/in process of starting the SAP as mandated by the CBA.

Each stage gets more treatment depending on which number of offense it is but nowhere in the CBA does it say you can terminate a contract (Richards) for being an addict. The good news for LA is that it doesn't say you can't either, and that will be their angle of defense (it simply is not addressed in regards to addiction).

I get your point, but the difference is there is nothing in place to address rehabilitation for offenses that are non-drug. The Varlamov case was the closest we've come to addressing DV in recent years, and that was handled horrifically - the Avalanche went on record saying they support their starting netminder (started him the next game, actually) and the NHL took the neutral "we're looking into it" stance.

They got backlash about that, then Ray Rice happened and then Voynov happened and the hammer came down swift and hard on the Kings and Voynov, no doubt to make up how poorly they handled Varlamov.

Some of the details:

Patrick Kane r*pe investigation new details bite marks scratch report | FOX Sports

Bite marks and the r*pe kit will confirm a lot but this could get ugly soon for Kane and the Hawks.
