THAT's what I'm talkin' about!

also, speaking of the mental fortitude required to play infront of the Habs crowd,
how do you think Kaberle will do when the boo-birds inevitably target him after about a week?

I do not know enough about him to answer but I think playing in the pressure cooker of Carolina probably toughened him up. He was in Toronto for years, its not Montreal but its a tough place too. Isn't it?

Sure is!!

The lines from the 1st level to the Air Canada Lounge (or whatever it's called) are murder.

Heard from an NHL GM who was absolutely shocked Carolina was able to move Kaberle's contract

I thought the same thing when Scott Gomez was picked up by Les Habitants...

or signing Erik Cole long term at $4.5m, or Gionta at $5m...

going to make Price and Subban's RFA talks interesting next summer.
they basically have only Markov and Weber signed on the blueline past this season.

I think Cole, Cammy, and Gionta would have gotten near what the Habs paid them from other teams. His numbers may not show it, but I actually think Cole has been really good.

Gomez contract is and was awful but Cammalleri and Gionta both stated that the Habs acquiring Gomez helped them to decide to sign there. So for a while I gave Gomez a pass, he has just been too awful though.

I think as much of the problem has been coaching. If the Habs were a little more offensive minded I think some of the recent big signings would be putting up bigger numbers so their contracts would not look so shocking.

I am sure if Martin finishes the year in the offseason the Habs will look for scoring to add like they tried the last few years. Then the new scorer will be asked to come in and play a predominantly defensive role instead of what they were brought in for and the cycle will repeat.

I honestly feel the Habs could have 12 forwards cheap marginal NHLers playing for Jacques and their record would would be no worse.

I am no hockey expert but thats the way I see things.

Since his trade from Toronto, the teams for which Tomas Kaberle played scored on 12.1 percent of their power plays. That's playoffs, too.

Sounds like a wonderful deal. Oh well.

I'd rather have Kaberle than Spacek but the 3 years sucks.

I think once Kaberle and Subban get some understanding, their PP will be good.
Remember all those years that Kaberle set up McCabe....
Subban has that great one timer and with someone to set up the puck on a platter will do them great.
