Oregon DT Maloata arrested, dismissed from Ducks

"
On Sunday morning, Oregon woke up having to deal with an embarrassing 52-27 loss to Stanford suffered the previous night.

But Mark Helfrich’s team will have to recover without one of its defensive starters.

Junior defensive tackle Austin Maloata was dismissed from the Ducks on Sunday following his arrest, according to Oregon Live. The Eugene police said Maloata was arrested at 1:48 a.m. for DUI and reckless driving. Maloata allegedly drove through a red light near campus before hitting another vehicle.

Maloata was also charged with possession of a controlled substance after Methamphetamine was found in the vehicle.

Rated as a 3-star prospect in 2014 recruiting class, Maloata was ranked as the No. 81 defensive end in the country and the No. 10 defensive end in the state of California. The Corona native signed with Oregon despite holding additional offers from Arizona State, Miami, Ole Miss, UCLA and USC, among others.

He was a part of the No. 22-ranked recruiting class in 2014, which also included former 5-star running back Royce Freeman and former 3-star running back Tony Brooks-James, both of which have emerged as star ball carriers for Helfrich’s team.

In 14 career games with the Ducks, Maloata had recorded 38 total tackles, 17 of which were solo tackles. He also recorded 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.

Oregon currently has 12 total commits in the 2017 recruiting cycle, which ranks No. 29 in the nation. Of those 12 commits, only two are defensive linemen: 4-star defensive end Langi Tuifua and 3-star defensive tackle Rutger Reitmaier."

If it makes you feel any better... the Ducks don't have a defense anyways.

To be fair if I played defense for Oregon then I would probably be smoking meth as well.

Ouch. Hopefully this doesn't ruine Oregon's playoff shot this year.

I'm taking OSU vs Oregon in the Civil war. The battle of the worst team in the PAC.

I didn't even realize Oregon got destroyed that badly by Stanford

Stanford's offense hasn't been capable of anything and yet they put up 52 on tDucks

Hey…didn't the Beavers kick the crappers out of Consin like two years ago?

As for the Civil, shouldn't be so civil cuz dem quackers have been kicking our azz for like 8 straight now.

Not this year. OSU won 12 in a row vs the dogs but that failed as well. Anderson might be coaching for his job as well.

Hardly…he'll get at least five years to do sump tin. We at State have low standards for winning.

You had many good years with Riley. Maybe if he's able to get his guys and coaching staff he can be successful in 2 years. I think this Oregon game can at least give them some momentum into next year.

I'm glad you guys took Anderson. It just wasn't going to work as he wanted to implement the spread offense shit. It fucked our recruiting for a year and our overall team just wasn't the same power run offense and efficient passing offense. He also couldn't get the athletes he wanted because of the academic standards and couldn't obtain the assistant coaches he wanted because of the low salary. IDK if I believe that but it might have some validity to it.

And that was just in the 3rd quarter. Stanford must have called the dogs off pretty early on em.

I'm glad you guys took Anderson.

Riley took everything and the kitchen sink as well with him to Braska…GA had little to work with. Were winning the moral victories now. Certainly in 2 years we should start to have winning seasons again, depends on who he finds to captain the ship on the O-side of the ball.
