The NCAA said they placed the football program over academics and had a clear culture problem. Here's some facts for the NCAA:

Penn State had an 85% graduation rate.
Penn State was tied for the 8th best graduation rate among AQ schools(Including the AAC)
Penn State had the 2nd best graduation rate in the B1G.
Penn State actually increased their graduation rate since 2000.
Penn State is 15% above the national average in graduation rate.

But yes, they clearly placed the football program ahead of academics.

Thankfully the NCAA realized how dumb they were and lessened the sanctions a couple weeks ago.

Nothing screams "child ass r*pe is OK" like a high graduation rate. Congrats PSU, you are the smartest child ass r*pe apologists in all the land.

Those graduation rates are pointless and use and out dated method for generating the percentages. If players transfer to other schools, if players leave for the NFL, they count against your graduation rate. The system is literally set up for failure. If your players do well - they leave for the NFL (as that is almost all player's goal when entering CFB). If they don't do well or they get passed by another player - they transfer to another school so they can hopefully start so they can hopefully get into the NFL.

It really has nothing to do with the academic standards of the school, of the players or of the program. In the case of PSU, it's likely because all the guys worth a damn left when the NCAA allowed them too and the only ones left to graduate were walk-ons and guys who knew they weren't going to make it into the NFL; which hyper inflated their statistics.

not a chance.....

psu has been consistently good at graduation rates, this is not a one time deal due to the sanctions.

graduation rates are related to a schools academic success, the rankings are

1) northwestern
2) notre dame
3) boston college
4) miami
5) rice
6) duke
7) rutgers
8) psu
9) stanford
10) army
11) navy
12) air force
13 wake forrest
14) vanderbilt

id say those are all very good schools^^^^^

Are you done talking out of your ass yet? Why are you talking so much about something you know so little about? The data was compiled from all the way back in 2006 for the entering classes. There were a couple classes that have come and gone before the sanctions kicked in and the NCAA allowed the kids to leave. I'm sure you're not knocking the system because Michigan is 2nd from the bottom in the B1G right?

Either way back to my original point, the NCAA said they lacked academic integrity and put football first. Is the NCAA going to take scholarships away from schools who performed MUCH worse than PSU did. Of course not. It's just them looking like a joke one more time.

I thought we were talking about the Academic Progress Rate that they release every year; which is a 4 year rolling figure. Since you didn't actually include a link in your OP - this was a fair assumption.

I honestly couldn't care where Michigan ends up. Our graduation rates have been messed up for some time now since RR basically lost more than half of the kids he recruited from all three of his primary recruiting classes.

Graduation rates of football players have nothing to do with the Academic success of the university. There might be a coincidental correlation because those schools care more to recruit players to stay, but that's about it.
