Yup, way early this year. Usually it's not until May.

Reminds me of Willie Mitchell on Jonathan Toews last season...Perron was able to stay in the game and scored the Blues 2nd goal.

What the fuck? A fight breaks out, and 2 seconds later up pops the stats on the players' weight, height and wins by KO?

It was the right call but I don't think he was targeting the head and it was definitely not a blindside hit. He came from directly in front of him. Perron didn't have his head up coming through the neutral zone (and it doesn't help that Thornton is a foot taller than Perron either).

I doubt he gets a suspension at all. If he does one game max.

I agree with Slim...The problem is that the guy coming out of the box is in "no man's land". Lest we forget this game is played at a terrific pace. As soon as a guy passes up on delivering a check in that situation, he's gonna find his butt stapled to the bench by his coach.

Just happy to see that Perron was able to stay in the game (and scored a goal later on).

That's the problem with how the League deals with things, and who's opinion you want to listen to.

A fan of the player in question never thinks it was as bad as it seems, and will say that he didn't mean to have that happen, it was a fluke.

And then you have almost everyone else who isn't a fan of that team say he's a dirty POS and deserevs to be suspended.

seems the same as Willie Mitchell on Toews last year.
the puck was right there, the hit was with the shoulder.

yeah. pretty much the same thing...maybe I was bit harsh on my comment about big Joe, clean hit, but with this new rule, the league already look at hits much differently now.

still don't like any of the Kings division rivals..

From my understanding of the defined rules, this looks like a clean hit to me. But there seems to be some unofficial rule where this type of hit is illegal. Or perhaps I stand to be corrected if there is a rule now that is clearly worded that makes these types of hits illegal.

I wouldn't say he didn't have his head up. He was just looking behind him to receive the pass. Not only that but Thornton was just coming out of the box so he likely wasn't really aware of Thornton's presence. I don't think its unreasonable that forwards should be able to look behind them to receive a breakout pass without the expectation of getting hit without seeing it coming. But again, to my knowledge there currently isn't a clearly defined rule that tells players what is and what isn't acceptable.
