Pretty big recruiting weekend coming up for Wake. They host Isaiah Mucius, Nate Laszewski and Michael Devoe.

I thought Laszewski was going to commit to ND during the weekend, guess he is planning to take all of his visits. Still think he ends up at ND. The catholic connection is a pretty strong tool for ND.

Think Wake has a pretty good shot at landing Mucius.

Not gonna lie, there's an instagram post of him working out with current uconn forward Terry Larrier that is basically the only thing giving me hope. lol

then again, Bamba did one of those too. jerk.

Yeah, I thought UConn was gonna make a good run at him, but seemed like Wake had too big of a lead to overcome for Mucius.

They've been the favorite for a while now, at least according to the stuff being posted on the Uconn board.

Well, this is certainly good to read.

A couple of months ago, Corey Evans made a post on Rivals saying that UConn was going to be a major player in Mucius' recruitment. However, nothing of that sort has really happened. Xavier has been a major player and Mucius just took his OV there.

Andrew Slater, who has a pretty good read on guys headed to ACC schools, CB'd Mucius to Wake back in April.

As always, will be nervous until its official.

Harry Giles scrimmaged against Wake's team with Chris Paul and Tim Duncan three months before he committed to Duke. Tell me about it, man.

Bamba didn't have to break my heart like that.

Think of the marketing opportunities alone!

How good do you think UConn will be next year?

It's really hard to say.

3 of their (arguably) top 6-7 players played 5 games or less.

Supposedly Diarra (0 games a frosh) last year has been a total beast over the summer, while Larrier (who was their best player before getting hurt something like 5 games into the year) is finally cleared to go.

gilbert's shoulder stuff is so flukey....he could pop again at any moment.

If they stay moderately healthy they should be a tourney team, but the AAC is still Cincy and SMU at the top until the young kids prove they're ready for the big time.

The AAC will always have instability because everyone in the league wants to be in a P5 league, but it has the potential to be a very fun basketball league.

Yup.

Next battleground between these 2 is Jalen Carey.

He's a HUGE target.

Ah, nice to know. I will keep my eye on that one. Looks like Cuse/UConn will be playing at MSG this year. Should be a fun game.

I forgot that Wichita St is now in the AAC.

They're clearly top dog.

But UConn should be competitive and finish 4th and be a tourney team.

That's about all they can hope for right now.

lol, that game was a disaster. I remember it well. UConn's offense looked putrid, thought they had no chance of coming back...until they did.

so ugly.

Hopefully with a little more health, the offense will actually be watchable this year.

If UConn's class for 2018 ends up being

Sid Wilson (transfer who reclassified to 2017 and then transferred after 2 weeks at St Johns....close enough)
Akinjo
Dimon Carrigan
Carey or Andrew Nembhard

the program will be in really good shape.

the downside is that class required Jalen Adams and Larrier to both turn pro after this year, but considering both are 22 and Larrier already posted an instragram photo with the hashtag #LastYear, I'm thinking it's a solid bet.

Neither guy is projected to be drafted by nbadraft.net, but its really early. That also hasn't stopped anyone before.

Pretty much the fear I have with Bryant Crawford. Unless he can climb up the draft boards, would obviously love to see him come back for his senior season. Think Wake has the potential to be a very good team that year and Crawford has the potential to be one of the top assist guys in ACC history.

Larrier sat out 2 years ago and played like 5 games last year. I'm not surprised.

Adams is just a guy who I don't think has that elite nba level athleticism, and thats why he isn't ranked. He's also more of a combo guard with his high turnovers.

if you guys got Devoe and Mucius....wow

Wake's in it for Mucius, Devoe and Ayo. They're also technically in it for Nate Laszewski, but I'm pretty sure he is a lock for Notre Dame.

Florida seemed to be a major roadblock for Wake to land Devoe, but it looks like Florida is in pretty good shape for Devon Dotson. If Florida can land Dotson, then that should put Wake in excellent shape with Devoe. If that does pan out, its interesting that the Charlotte kid in Dotson will land at Florida, while the Orlando kid in Devoe will land at Wake.

As we talked about before, Mucius is down to Wake and Xavier. I think Wake is in great shape here. Just have to close the deal.

Have no idea about Ayo. Wake has a scheduled OV with Ayo in two weeks, but if Wake can secure commitments from Devoe and Mucius this weekend, I don't think Wake will have room for Ayo. Corey Evans could very well be right and Ayo is a battle between Illinois and Xavier.

An Hoard/Mucius/Devoe/Wright recruiting class would be great, so hopefully they can seal the deal this weekend.

FWIW, the KU posters on the Rivals CBB board are starting to have doubts about Dotson. Many are starting to think that he is Florida bound.
