I think I would prefer Hoyer if I'm a Browns fan

This makes no sense to me. Hoyer is 6 years younger & played slightly better than McCown. McCown has at most, 1-2 years left in this league. Basically, this means that they are going forward with Manziel as their future. :L

Man......Browns fans just can not get a break. I normally don't approve of drug testing but the entire front office needs to fill a bottle. Jeesh.

Leave it to the Clowns to potentially replace the only decent QB (Hoyer) they have had with this loser.

There's a life lesson to be learned here: people who are in charge of promotion in organizations are generally more concerned with how much they like an individual and how comfortable they feel with him/her over how qualified that individual is. The coaching staff of the Browns like McCown and they don't like Hoyer.

If you're working hard at your job and seem to be doing everything right but still can't seem to get ahead it's probably not you. Your boss likely just doesn't feel comfortable with you.

Three years $15 million. The only thing I can think of is the owner needs tax write offs, and the Browns are it.

Art Modell was a Traitor to most Browns fans but at least he put a decent product on the field

The Browns are constantly in a death spiral

So McCown is going to mentor Johnny rehab?

You waste a draft pick on him and now waste $35 million on a mentor?
2014: 11TD's, 14 interceptions and 9 fumbles = $35 million? I'm in the wrong business.....

I guess the Browns aren't interested in having any 3 game winning streaks

Worse run organization Cleveland or Oakland?

I pick Cleveland at least Oakland had a heyday, the respectable Cleveland Browns play in Baltimore now.

Since 1999, the Cleveland Browns have posted a 84–172 record. 1999 was their first year back after Modell moved the originals to Baltimore.

Holy Shit.

The Browns front office is just hell bent on keeping this franchise in the toilet

I feel bad for the Browns fans.

I think you're right, Josh is just another backup qb, he's not a starter.....Are they burning ganja weed fields up there or something, they just keep making dumber decisions as they go....
They need to get a franchise qb in the draft if there's one in there, whatever it takes to get one, just do it...
Or they will continue down the path of putrid....Unbelievable how they blew last season after a solid start like that.

Exactly, idk about long term, but he's going to get every opportunity to be the starter this season...McCown is purely a stop gap QB...as a backup...whereas, Hoyer imo is a stop gap QB as well, but he has proven with a strong supporting cast...he can keep the ship afloat.

Before people really go crazy on how could they sign this guy over Hoyer maybe you should take a look at his contract. Essentially signing Hoyer means you are tied to him for the next few years to be your starting quarterback. He is going to want more guaranteed money than what the Browns want to give him. I mean Hoyer is a decent quarterback but not one that I am excited to be the head of my team for the next 3-years.

McCown on the other hand is essentially a 1-year deal. He gets a little over $5 million this year (that is nothing considering the cap space the Browns have). This gives them another year of seeing Johnny Football and whether he can pull his life together while giving him a mentor and doesn't hurt the team long-term. They can cut McCown after this season with very very little dead money. Throw in the deal they have with him is greatly tied to incentives. So essentially McCown only gets paid if the team does well while he is starting. Otherwise they can cut him or keep him very much on the cheap.

This really isn't a bad deal for the Browns. Gives them a decent veteran who has shown some ability to play at a high level at times. It gives them a mentor. And it gives them the ability to walk away at any point it is not working.

Sounds like you are talking about York and Baalke re: Harbaugh.
