Nice signing.

If I'm the Mavs, I would go after Bynum as well.

Too much, right? He will fit well with Dirk on the offensive end. Dallas has the look of a 40 win team to me. Not sure what the next move should be.

Whats going on in Dallas? Why are they being skipped over in the high level FA signings? Seems like Cubans plan backfired on him for the second year in a row.

I wouldn't go that far.

Dallas has never - I mean never EVER - been a spot FAs tried to get to. As a team they really have virtually no HOFers, no history, and one title. The fact they were even IN the discussions the last two years is a very good sign for them.

They'll do what they always do. Find some key under the radar FAs, and make a trade or two - and once again be a competitive team.

They're looking at Bynum. If they get Bynum and he actually plays, I think they're a 50 win team. They actually have solid role players in Marion and Vince.

as the team is now.....they can still make the play-offs

the only reason they didnt make the play-offs last year was dirk missing the 1st half of the season

if dirk is injury free this year we will have a play-off team....if you add a bynum that plays..could be a chance(not faves or anything but nobody gave us a chance in '11 either)

To win the NBA championship??

LOL. NOBODY saw Dallas winning it in 11.......hell they were picked to lose EVERY single playoff series that year.

Portland was the consensus to win in 5, first round
Lakers were the consensus to sweep 2nd round
OKC was supposed to win in 6 3rd round
and of course they weren't supposed to stand a CHANCE against the Heat.

The big signing that offseason was Tyson Chandler........and to a lesser extent Caron Butler.

not a good one but if bynum plays (big, big if) sure why not......team last year was dirk getting back 10 games earlier away from the play-offs.....with no pg and no c

I'm sorry, if you're putting any of your hopes on that garbidge Andrew Bynum then your team has no chance.

kinda agree texasman......thats why a said " a chance" and followed it up with "not a good one"

if the mavs get solid defense/rebounds out of the C then points are just gravy (chandler) and it just makes the team that much better

we have been getting by with dampier/haywood for years

Calderon is one of the most underrated Pgs in the NBA.

Defense is pretty bad but he hits shots at a good %
Also year after year in top 3 at assist to turnover rate

I think its legitimate to question whether Dirk can still actually play like Dirk

After having Calderon for years the one thing you guys will need for him to excel is an athletic big who is good on the pick and roll.
Calderon is the master at this

he will be fine if healthy.....last year after he got his legs under him he started getting his ppg up around 20....if he his healthy he will get his 23/25 ppg and close out games for the mavs......imo

But he never got there last year. The last relevant game they played, Dirk was terrible. So yeah...Ive got to see him play at least a month at an All Star level to even think of the Mavs as a playoff team.
