That poor kid, man. He was probably on the verge of making our 53.

Am I delusional, or does it seem like in the last 5 years or so there have been an incredible number of blown knees in comparison to the past 10-15 prior to that. Seems to be almost an everyday occurrence for one team or another.

I think last year set some kind of record in torn ACLs.

I would imagine athletes now are pushing themselves so much harder for a lot longer than athletes in the past. There has been a dramatic increase in surgeries related to arm issues in recent years. Experts believe it is due to kids practicing pitches year round from very early ages. I think something similar happens in football. These guys have been pushing themselves to run harder, faster, and make crisper cuts all year. This is going to add some extra wear and tear to the body.

Agreed. Just seems in the past few years there have been an inordinate amount of ACL tears.

Definitely bad news for both Norwood and the team. I think he was the leading candidate to return punts. Wonder who is now?

TD that is my question as well. I'm not wanting us to keep a guy just because he can return punts. Just seems like a wasted roster spot in my opinion. That was the great thing about Norwood is he offered quite a bit as a pass catcher as well.

As it stands right now Wes Welker is our top guy for punt returner. I would kind of be interested to see what a guy like Hillman can do with punt return duties. He has taken some kick off return duties this summer but maybe it is too late to get him working on the punt return.

Damn I have been impressed with Norwood in preseason. I like his return skills and he did show a little as a wr. Big blow for im.

One of the UFA WRs who I've been intrigued by is Bennie Fowler. Nice combination of size and speed, along with a fairly productive college career at MSU, so I checked to see whether he ever returned punts in college. His freshman year he returned 15 punts for 336 yards. I wonder if he might get a look during these last two preseason games.

I just don't see Elway and Fox putting Welker back there much unless it is a fair catch situation to keep a drive to win the game.. Too many concussions and that is a punishing position. Still have a couple weeks to figure it out. KEEP FINGERS CROSSED

Last time I remember Welker back there, it didn't work out so well...

If you are referring to the botched punt during the patriots game that was not the last time he has done it.

I would rather Welker not be back there because I don't want him to get rocked. I say we put no one back there on punts and watch Manning wreck the defense. :yahoo:
