I have to admit that for awhile, I was a bit of a Manziel hater myself (still not a fan of the Johnny Football nickname) because of the off the field stuff, but always thought he was a blast to watch play.

Recently though, I've come around and really hope to see him succeed in the NFL. He's never going to be a "prototypical NFL quarterback" but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.

After all, Russell Wilson and Drew Brees aren't prototypical NFL quarterbacks either. Doesn't seem to have hurt them much.

Exactly. Your last sentence is one of the biggest things I agree with and most doubted them.

He's in pads and a helmet too... Never seen that in my life.

He was without a doubt a class act today. Very professional and well spoken, and came out as very inventive. Manziel definitely gained my respect. However, it's a pro day and we all know he's trying to play Mr. Nice Guy.

He is a nice guy if you met him in person.

I hope he likes bad weather, rundown dirty neighborhoods and obese Polish girls because Cleveland is going to be his new home.

Can't wait. Go Browns

Ohh...fuck me running!

Manziel has grown up so much in the last year. I never hear of him doing anything but hanging out with his friends playing sports and working out (when he is in town). That is a complete 180 from his first couple years. He even spent quite a bit of time signing autographs at a baseball game recently when he absolutely didn't have to. We were about to escort him out and he stopped and signed until we made him leave. In fact, I haven't seen him at the bars much at all in the last 6 months. Granted I don't go in them hardly ever unless I have to. But you use to see him around there all the damn time. Signs of growing up in my opinion. I'm starting to like the kid.

Without a doubt. My point is not that Manziel is a mean fellow, but that he has a reputation for being a bad boy and a spoiled rich kid.

I've come to the conclusion that if the Texans don't take him, they're going to regret it. Of course, if he goes to some crappy organization, he may not survive long enough to succeed.

But I think he's going to have some success in the league.

Joe Montana had one of the worst Pro Days in history....
And paid for it by being drafted so late. Doesn't matter if Manziel will be a bust or not but there's plenty of millions at stake.

I'm a fan and am glad he's grown up some. I think he can be successful and will be, given the right scenario.

Actually this misses the pt. Both Brees and Wilson play the game like a prototypical NFL QB. They are smart and mostly pocket passers. Wilson runs, but improvising and running are not the focus of his game. They are not prototypes in stature. JFF is outside the prototype in style and stature. More M Vick than Brees or Russel. Brees is JFF have absolutely nothing in common outside of being sub-6'.

He may have impressed and been well spoken and is showing signs of growing up, that still doesn't mean I want him on the Texans with the #1 overall. Let some other team take a flyer on him. Still too much hype for my liking. I am glad he is maturing, it's easier to like the guy now.

Did Cleveland ask on twitter again whether or not they should draft JFF?

if the blowback that he saw from the last offseason was able to get through to him and let him realize that everything he does will be scrutinized with a microscope, then good for him. He learned a valuable lesson without having to pay too much of a price.

My fear is that he actually just has a very good PR guy in his ear 24/7 telling him to just not do anything JFF-like for another couple of months. Then he will get paid, get a contract, and go back to partying. Maybe not, but has happened before.

Gotta admit, I was impressed with the kid yesterday. Not with his workout (I would expect every potential NFL QB draft pick to complete passes with ease without anybody rushing or blitzing them), but with his interview with the ESPN guys and how he addressed the coaches in attendance. Perhaps the kid has matured? He just might go from Johnny Douchebag to just Johnny Manziel now.
