This has been the most difficult season of Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco's six-year career.

His 14 interceptions are a career high. His 78.5 passer rating is a career worst. And his dislike of the Wildcat offense caused a backlash from fans.

But, as Flacco has so often repeated, it's all about wins with him and he's on the verge of distinguishing himself in that area. If Flacco beats the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, he will have the most wins by a Super Bowl-era quarterback through his first six seasons. Flacco currently has 60 wins in the regular season, which is tied with the total produced by Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger from 2004 to 2009.

Here are some other significant win totals for Flacco:
  • His 60 regular season wins rank only behind Drew Brees (61) for the most by a starting quarterback since 2008.
  • Flacco has 38 career regular season wins at home, the most among NFL starting quarterbacks since he entered the league in 2008.
  • His nine playoff victories are tied with Tom Brady for the most among quarterbacks in the first five seasons of a career.

“I think he’s just continued to grow over the course of his career," Vikings defensive end Jared Allen said in a conference call with Baltimore reporters. "He’s always been, in my opinion, a top-level quarterback, with his pocket presence, his timing to get the ball out, and the ability to throw the deep ball. He’s obviously continued to grow to put himself in that elite quarterback category.” :yahoo:

I'm not trying to undermine Flacco. He has obviously been a good player in big games and he's helped his team accomplish a lot during his career. I do think, however, that your thread title is ironic if your aim is to prop up Flacco, since the only "records of his own" discussed in the piece you posted are a career high in INTs and a career low in passer rating. Wins is a team statistic.

Name something that isn't a team statistic.

Flacco...very good QB, has the size, arm you want.

He played his best football when it counted the most, and got a huge contract. Great timing!!! IMO he doesn't have to try and live up to it with stats. Put good weapons around him and he wins games...ask him to carry the load throwing it 35-40 times a game and imo you're putting him in a position to fail.

You have a bit of a point. Even INTs and passer rating are somewhat dependent on players other than the QB. Seems pretty obvious to me, however, that those two stats are a better measure of QB performance than is number of team wins.

I see our OP needs enlightening.

Any stat that favors Peyton Manning over Tom Brady is an individual statistic that only the great Peyton Manning could have achieved and could have done so no matter what other 52 individuals were on his team.

On the other hand, if it is a stat that favors Tom Brady over Peyton Manning, it is a team stat that any quarterback (including David Carr) could have gotten if he just had Bill Belichick as his head coach, the Patriots defense and the rest of that supporting cast as his teammates.

Hope that helps.

No QB can be successful without a good Oline. wr's, te's and a good rb don't hurt either.
A WR, TE cannot be successful without a good QB, and a RB without good blocking.
Do I have to go on to help you understand that this is a team sport but each player is judged by his effectiveness in the team system.....Joe has done very well and the professionals agree with me...Go ahead and howl....

That stat cant be right... Unless its for SUper Bowl winning QBs??? Hell Matt Ryan had more than 60 regular season wins his first 6 years in the league by ALOT. 11, 9, 13, 10, 11, 13.... Thats 67. I know he didnt start in 2 or 3 of those games but its way more than 60 either way.

Matt Ryan is 59-31 in the regular season and 1-4 in the postseason.

Flacco is 60-32 in the regular season and 9-4 in the postseason.

That's not the problem, since you listed six win totals, which is the number of seasons since 2008. Problem is that nine wins is the fewest that you list, while Atlanta has only won three games this year.

Well you do have figures for 6 years and none of those figures is the 3 wins he has this year.

Yeah for some reason I was thinking this was his 7th year. Not sure why. Oh well corrected. Onward and upward gentleman.
