seriously! How much longer should we give Joe Barry to straighten out and get his defense together? I know there will always be the injury excuse and that we knew coming into the season that our Dline was the weakest link..that's why I am asking how much longer do we give Joe Barry before firing him?

its the coach. never brings pressure in pressure situations. im not saying our defense is full of pro bowlers but its decent enough.

Our personnel on defense is not decent Dean. C'mon man... Another coach can't fix players who cannot play my friend. That is truly what's wrong with this defense.

My guess is Barry makes it through the year. All bets are off if he is our DC next year.

I disagree. We have the worst 3rd down % on defense b/c Barry lets the Qb sit back there and pick us apart on 3rd down. He is doing this with rookie QB's like Dak and Kessler. Doesn't make sense to me. that is why opposing offenses are having so much success b/c they are converting on 3rd downs.

I'm not saying Barry is a good coach because obviously he is not. Our biggest flaw is player personnel on defense. Are you not watching the games? We can't tackle, not winning one on one battles up front, have no speed what's so ever. That's not coaching, that's want too...I'm all for Manusky in as DC and Barry out as of right now. Wouldn't hurt at this point.

I agree some is on the players too but Barry just puts us in bad situations. I watch all the games. I just don't like how he calls games.

I'm convinced it's the trio of bad players, poor coaching and bland, predictable schemes. There's no way one factor can make the defense this putrid.

It is all in combination; however, he led horrible defenses in SD, so it makes no sense how they get jobs elsewhere. I always thought to get a job, you need to have done a job well.

He was the linebacker's coach in San Diego, and from what I've heard a good one. Supposedly his unit was the strength of that defense. That's one of the main reasons Gruden hired him; and they worked together in Tampa.

I don't know what The Chargers D's overall ranking were at the time but it wasn't too bad. And they used a 3-4 alignment like Washington tried to run, so he had experience in those schemes, unlike Haslett who had no experience coaching it until Shanahan hired him. :(

I was willing to give Barry a chance because he got a raw deal in Set with a talentless unit and overbearing head coach who many say was the real "mastermind" of that I'll fated lot. And Rod Marinelli did do well when he became Dallas' D-Coordinator, so I governed it was fair to give Joe a second chance.

So far Jay is 0-2 with picking defensive gurus; first Jim Haslett and now Joe Barry is proving to be just as inept.

.

Haz was the Steelers defensive coordinator from 97-99 ... they run the 34

he also played linebacker for the bills which i believe ran the 34 ... but can not find anything to confirm it.

Yeah, I agree its the combo of Barry, his vanilla schemes and shitty players. If Barry is fired I'm not sure giving the job to one of the unit coaches is a good idea. I say that mainly because of how shitty each unit has played fundamentally. Fundamentally the Skins haven't played well at any level. Hell, the only 2 players who I think have played well on non-turnover plays have been Murphy and Norman. Chris Baker seems to start out every game nicely shedding a block and making a tackle for a loss or minimal gain and that's it. If I'm wrong about that and I'd love to be wrong, somebody say something.

So I don't see firing Barry now or before the season ends doing much good.

Exactly ... its the same issue we had when everyone was piling on Haz

you can not move on from someone without a plan on who they plan on replacing him with.

Change for the sake of change just leads to a inconsistent message & a bunch of confused players scratching their heads.

Just like players ... there are not that many defensive coordinators just walking the streets this time of year.

And yea, I'm a Haz guy, lol.

I wouldn't rock the boat just yet. 2-2 and basically a game out with 12 to go. I have never been a Barry fan. Really wanted Wade, but firing a coordinator 4 weeks in sounds real easy from our point of view. That would send shockwaves through that locker room. A locker room that doesn't appear as strong and as united as we thought based on what we were hearing after two weeks.

Ride it out this year unless the wheels totally fall.off and we are sitting at 4-9 or something like that and giving up 8ypc and 35 a game. Then I think everyone could be in trouble.

2-2 after a big win in NY and a come from behind win vs Cleveland, a game this franchise would have lost 2 or 3 years ago seems a little quick to start firing coordinators. Jmo. I hate Barry for the record, but let's just hold tight a few more weeks and see what happens.

look the players arent good , you have an all pro cb , a PB OLB , an up and coming cb and a decent rotational de and a possible rookie ILB who can ball other then that its substandard

now that leads to vanilla which leads to no real blitzing
