But it makes sense to hire someone like a Joe Barry or Raheem Morris. Those two won't threaten the Head coach when the team fails this upcoming season, with the possibility of Gruden getting fired comes up. Can't have a Fangio, Schwartz, or a Phillips sitting there in the background.

Hate to admit it Shark, you were right. Time will tell, but it looks like we can definitely do worse than Haslett. I will reserve judgment till the preseason. 0-16, and the second most points given up in a season in league history.

i get that the lions didnt have much talent on D when barry was there but we dont have a great amount of talent either. so does jay and bruce somehow expect a huge change in result? ill give the guy a chance but im pretty disappointed initially

it wont be. and so far barry is off to a great start to getting shit talked more than haz was.

ok time for some positives. hes had one shot at being a DC and it was with the lions. it didnt go well but they had no talent and barry was pretty young. NOW, hopefully he takes a different approach and has learned a lot since then. he ran a 4-3 in detroit, i think he would be better running a 3-4 system. chargers linebackers were good right? he has rod marinelli ties.

I'll stick by for what I said. Haslett needed to go. 5yrs of bad schemes and bad coaching. The players seemed as if that were not ready, always making the same mistakes, and midgame/halftime adjustments rarely even happened. If Barry is hired, he should only be given a 4yr deal. To me, he has 1 1/2yrs to improve the defense if we stick to 3-4. 2 fulls yrs if we switch to 4-3. I won't jump to alot of conclusions about Barry, everyone else has beaten me to it. But I rather deal with a new "crappy" DC than look at the same one we've had for 5yrs prior
