Not exactly a spring chicken obviously, but was there any sense he was this close to death?

I'm surprised he lasted this long. The last time I heard anything about him was when he supposedly overdosed and was in a critical medical condition, (life-support, coma, or something like that), maybe January this year. He had previously admitted to 10+ stays in rehab.

RIP

I wonder where his guitar collection is destined to go. He had quite the impressive collection. A lot of historic rock star guitars...

My sister in law was a cardiac care nurse in the 80's in Stanford Medical Center.
The 80's were full of wealthy coke-heads who needed new hearts.
The doctor said that an autopsy would show scarring indicative of using cocaine even once!
Many celebrities have been refused a liver transplant because of ongoing drug and alcohol abuse.
