Honestly guys, this is nothing new. Yeah, Jeter is not playing anywhere remotely close to all-star level and all that and there are lots of SS out there who are deserving. The thing is a popularity thing and always has been even before fan voting. Over-the-hill stars have always got in because of past accomplishments. Managers routinely add in guys from their own team because of getting to or winning the WS the year before. Was Cal Ripken deserving of the vote in 2001? People were screaming the same stuff then and it turned into a great send-off for the guy. We can disagree with the fan vote all we want but it is just a showcase for the stars and not the end of the world. It is another reason that this game should not decide hfa in the WS, though. It should remain just an exhibition game with no meaning other than for some fun for players and fans.
to be fair in the NL the fans voted pretty good. The AL Fan voting has sucked this year. There's always snubs though.
I hope he isnt a first ballot guy, he is the most over rated player in todays game. He will probably get in though...
You can overrate into getting 3,000 hits?![]()

You can be overrated with 3000 hits. He is talked about as one of the best yet I dont think he ever lead the league in anything. He is surrounded by superstars so yeah his avg and hits will increase because of that. He was a good player, but not even close to being one of the best.
