I really get annoyed when the jerseys are retired wrongly. It's a very, very, very, high honor. I mean, this is an honor beyond getting into the HoF. It's the highest honor basically. Some teams have tons of retired jerseys, and I understand that many of them are probably worthy, but when things like the Bourque jersey happen, it just opens the door for other guys to unrightfully have it retired.

The Francis one makes me mad because I will always think of him as a Pen, not a Cane. I suppose his relation to the Whalers makes that a bit different...but still. The Pens probably won't retire any other numbers until maybe Sid/Geno/whomever from this crop gets up there...I think Jagr deserves it though.

I don't hate it, but not sure if I totally understand it. His number retired with the Leafs - I 100% get that.

I know about his history in the league, especially with the Leafs. He played parts of only 2 seasons with the Sabres before his tragic death.

His off ice contributions to the young team must have been much more then I recall to deserve the honor.

I don't see how anyone can disagree with Francis in Carolina. He spent parts of 16 seasons with the franchise. Sure his best years and Stanley Cups were with Pittsburgh, but still. He's probably the best player in Hurricanes history.

I didn't realize he spent that significant an amount of years with the franchise. Didn't realize he played that many years honestly. All his real postseason success came with the Pens.
