---NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that there is mutual interest on both sides after the tight end's visit with the Seahawks.

The plan, according to Rapoport, is for a deal to get done, but the Seahawks are waiting for Finley to get full medical clearance before moving forward.

Finley's 2013 season with the Green Bay Packers came to a premature end after the tight end suffered a spinal injury against the Cleveland Browns last October. The injury required surgery to fuse together his C3 and C4 vertebrae.

Finley's camp has been optimistic all along that Finley will return to the field. He has been cleared for everything but full contact at this point. Once that happens, he's in line to join a Seahawks offense that certainly could use his punch at tight end.

The Seahawks crew of team doctors is considered one of the tops in the NFL. Their medical evaluation of him with be extremely thorough. I guess my concern would be that Finley isn't known for his blocking skills. He's your prototype catching TE. Considering how physical the play is in the NFC West. This could be a huge gamble.

Not sure why we're wasting time with him. An injury that nobodys sure about plus hands of stone. That's money better spent somewhere else.

I don't get it either. Get Miller to re-structure, Luke Wilson played great his first season.... and call it a day. McCoy is back if Miller goes down.

Spend it on WRs, OL, and maybe some more D.

I liked the idea at first but thinking about it more its not really a fit. Miller gives you everything you need at TE position in this system. Finley is the anti Miller essentially athletic and cant block. Unless the plan is to convert him to a WR then Ill pass.

Not sure I like the idea of Finley. He has a serious case of the dropsies and is a poor blocker. Zach Miller is an adequate receiving TE, he just didn't have the opportunity to run many routes.

I think the Seahawks are well off with Miller, McCoy and Willson.

Not sure what to think of this if it happens. I trust Schneider, so we'll see how it goes.

Do not want.

Can't block. Drops passes. Huge injury concerns. And we have Miller, Willson, and McCoy.

I don't see it

He won't be handed a spot though… No one is under Carroll… You ether earn it or your down the depth chart… Or gone…

It's now starting to come out that Finley flunked the medical evaluation with Seahawks team doctors. It's why he hasn't been able to sign a deal elsewhere either.

Yeah I thought I saw something on the NFL Network ticker about him being "months away" from getting medical clearance to play again, so this isn't a big surprise if that's the case.
