With all of the publicity lately, I already thought he was gone.

Never been a day in my life I found him the least bit entertaining...

I actually enjoy him more than the others. I haven't watched a show in years though.

The Headlines was generally pretty funny. Some of the schtick he did with Kevin Eubanks wasn't too, too bad. After that though, meh at best.

None of this current crop could hold a candle to Johnny Carson in his heyday.

Honestly I think this is true of hollywood in general. Johnny could have Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Don Rickles on the same show and that was just way more entertaining than anything we see on these shows today.

Once again, :agree:

However, it was of course easier for shows to book talent when there were only 2-3 shows of this type goiing. Now, there are about 10-15, so the talent pool is of course going to be naturally thinner.

To say nothing of how it seems we need more and more to be entertained now than before....

I absolutely agree but people back in the day wanted to be on Johnny it seems today agents book shows for their clients and they just go from one show to another promoting something and don't really care. Just my opinion...

It wasn't just the guests that Johnny had on, it was the other crazy shit he did.
Ed McMahon was brilliant too.

Now if only Letterman can leave to pave the way for Craig Ferguson. That guy is hilarious.
