Yeah, there is a connection there somewhere.

I think he's gone.

I'm not worried about it.

they think he can fix rg3

rg3 just needs time to heal, and offensive line, some targets, he's a premium athlete.

whatever

I think Jay has done a good job here overall, but he is not irreplaceable. Zimmer, on the other hand, would be a very difficult loss to overcome.

Agreed.

I would prefer an OC that will go to a bit more run-based offense that will limit Andy's weakness a bit.

Also, it would be nice to see more of Gio out of the backfield, and the TE's involved. That of course, is dependent on Gresham returning (he probably will) and of course him not false-starting, holding, fumbling, or dropping passes...

on second thought...never mind about the TE's.

Gresham is going into the final year of his 5 year rookie deal.

Scheduled to make $2,135,750 (+ $200,000 workout bonus) in 2014. I'm not sure about his cap hit, etc. if they were to cut him.

The Redskins GM Bruce Allen was connected at the hip with Jon Gruden. He was in the Oakland front office for years and eventually followed Gruden to TB.

That's why there's either heavy interest, or why the Redskins are at least trying to make Jay Gruden seem like a legit canidate to the other teams that are interviewing him.

It's good to have connections.

Gruden's done a good job, but I don't think he's paid his dues long enough to be a HC yet

Gruden is closing in on the job.

Anyone find it odd that the Skins are choosing a coach that just this week said he didn't want Kaep because he wasn't big on the read option? Does he plan to use Kirk Cousins?

I think RGII has talked in the media about how he wants the Redskins to develop RGIII as a classic passing pocket QB to prolong his career. I'm sure he was talking on behalf of the family.

Also Gruden was put in a bind: "The organization picked the wrong QB and it's all your fault, response?"

I think he'll play to RGIIIs strengths if he gets the job.

He's even had Dalton running the read-option on occasion so it's definatley been incorporated into his playbook

The Redskins have a ton of caproom this season because they're getting out an NFL sanctioned cap purgatory.

Wonder if Gruden makes a run at guys from the like Collins, Hawkins, etc who are familiar with his scheme

Indeed. They have cap space, but they also have 14 key players to re-sign due to contracts expiring.

We'll see what they end up doing, but they should have some room to add.

It's hard to know what the players think of him. With Zimmer, it's like they worship the guy. Every player on his D references Zimmer every time they are interviewed. With Gruden, you never hear a thing. That could easily just be the difference between offensive and defensive players, so I won't read too much into it. With AC, I read an article recently where he had high praise for Paul Alexander -- I wonder if position coach is a big draw for some offensive players. In the end it's mostly about money though -- If we really see AC as a left tackle, we'll cut him a large check and he won't go anywhere.

Hire Hue before Zimmer gets a job!

We need to hold onto one of these guys so we can promote from within when Marvin isn't resigned after the season.

It's the Bengal way.

I think Hue gets bumped. He and Marvin work well together.

Now, let's just hope that Zimmer ends up staying, and the Bengals extend him for a few years. They'll have to revisit Marvin in a year, and that would at least keep Zimmer around to fill that void if Marvin is gone.

However, I wouldn't mind seeing them interview Turner as OC, either. You've got to think there's no way he wants to stay in Cleveland, and the offense had some pretty decent days considering their RB's and QB issues.
