An added benefit of the Hatcher signing is the loss of him to dallas. He created difficulties for us last year and now he and Ware are gone.

The signing of Hatcher stinks of a Haslett request to me. Since no real improvement at ILB was made, Haslett is probably begging for DL pressure. Signing Hatcher will be a waste of money if you don't bring in a NT who can collapse the pocket. I would say if we end up with a huge NT like Wilfork who can get this done then the signing of Hatcher would be valid. Otherwise, it stinks of Allen panicking and signing Hatcher to appease fans since no real upgrade signings were made up until this point. The plan was to go young and improve through the draft so I thought. Then we give $27.5M to Hatcher when we could have signed a young safety to compliment our future.

Just my opinion of course. HTTR!

You know! I don't get some of you Skins fans. Some complained that we didn't sign a big name. We did and there is still complaints. Sure, Jason Hatcher will be 32, this year. First of all, he's a low-mileage 32. The man hasn't played much in what will be his eight year. You cannot ignore his production--not to mention, killing us--last year. He had 11 sacks, people. That's tops amongst DTs in the NFL and higher than our best pass-rusher's (Orakpo) total. Not to mention, this move is only going to make Orakpo and Kerrigan better. With that being said, how many pass-rushers can an OL block? I believe you know the answer. Also, it should make the secondary better. In many cases, I believe a good pass-rusher can make a secondary better. Not to take anything away from the elite secondaries in the league, but still....

People wanna complain about overpaying for him. Ok! Let's talk about overpaying. Remember when we signed Albert Haynesworth to a massive contract in 2009? We signed him to $100 million dollars for a player that was going to be 28 that year. Not to mention, he had other issues, too. The bottom line is, we got a good player, who is also going to make the rest of the front seven better. Period. Not to mention, he cost a lot less than the average so-called big name signing. What if we'd have signed Jairus Byrd to the money that the Saints gave him? Without a good pass rush, that signing would have probably worthless, but costly.
