Allen lost me a couple of days ago.....
He wants market value .... Which is between Ware money and Peters money or he plans to retire
Too much money for my liking
It does depend on the numbers, but we have no one off the edge that can do more than 5-6 sacks IMO. Adding a guy who can get 12-15 would make everyone on the line better.
Rod's defense isnt big on sacks ... Never has been
It's on pressure
I dont think any of his Tampa 2 two defenses have ever even recorded 12-13 sacks .....( by a single player)
It's about inside pressure, containing the edges, and turnovers
Have to admit I wasn't the biggest Bucs fan, but I would have thought both Sapp and Rice were around double digit sacks when they were really good on D
I never wanted any part of Allen unless it was a really cheap deal. I think he is much closer to the end than either Ware or Peppers.
Allen can keep shopping unless he is willing to do a 1 year deal for $3M or less.
To expand on my point. IMO, Allen would be good in a rotation for us. He would help our team, but we can't pay him like he is the player he once was.
Cowboys must be serious as they even want him to workout. I think we can all agree that Wares departure was not all about money. Jerrah still thinks we are only a player away. It is very possible that Jerrah thought Ware did not fit the scheme.

I can't imagine Jerry felt that replacing Ware with Allen was the missing ingredient to a Championship, but who knows with Jerry...
It may not be Jerry making the call on Ware/Allen. It's pretty well known that the reason the Cowboys didn't take Floyd in the first round last year was because Rod told Jerry he didn't fit his system. The fact that Allen is here at the same time RM favorite Melton is may have been the plan all along
