Allen lost me a couple of days ago.....

He wants market value .... Which is between Ware money and Peters money or he plans to retire

Too much money for my liking

It does depend on the numbers, but we have no one off the edge that can do more than 5-6 sacks IMO. Adding a guy who can get 12-15 would make everyone on the line better.

Rod's defense isnt big on sacks ... Never has been

It's on pressure

I dont think any of his Tampa 2 two defenses have ever even recorded 12-13 sacks .....( by a single player)

It's about inside pressure, containing the edges, and turnovers

Have to admit I wasn't the biggest Bucs fan, but I would have thought both Sapp and Rice were around double digit sacks when they were really good on D

They both averaged double digits sacks during their prime. Sapp best year was 16.5 & Rice was 15.5

I never wanted any part of Allen unless it was a really cheap deal. I think he is much closer to the end than either Ware or Peppers.

I have no interest in Allen either. He's going to want too much $$$ so I doubt we could afford him anyway. Maybe if he took a modest contract year one with a team option year 2, I'd look his way. I'm not breaking ye bank on him. I think he ends up in Seattle if Melton signs here.

I think Allen is a better fit in a 4-3 defense than Ware was. Jerrah is very unpredictable and it would not surprise me if he signed Allen

Allen can keep shopping unless he is willing to do a 1 year deal for $3M or less.

Unless Allen is on a Cheep Chicken Friday deal like at Albertsons Grocery he can keep on shopping.

He has lost explosiveness off the line. Allen can still help somebody but not at $$$$$ more like $ and besides lets build through the draft this draft is " deep with miles to go before " Jerry sleeps to borrow a partial line from a poem. Apologies to Robert Frost.

To expand on my point. IMO, Allen would be good in a rotation for us. He would help our team, but we can't pay him like he is the player he once was.

Cowboys must be serious as they even want him to workout. I think we can all agree that Wares departure was not all about money. Jerrah still thinks we are only a player away. It is very possible that Jerrah thought Ware did not fit the scheme.

I can't imagine Jerry felt that replacing Ware with Allen was the missing ingredient to a Championship, but who knows with Jerry...

If Jerry gives Allen 10M I'll agree with you. If Jerry low balls Allen it was simply about money. Odds are you are wrong.

As for the one player away idea Jerry simply refuses to say the word rebuild. It's possible he can't spell rebuild.

It may not be Jerry making the call on Ware/Allen. It's pretty well known that the reason the Cowboys didn't take Floyd in the first round last year was because Rod told Jerry he didn't fit his system. The fact that Allen is here at the same time RM favorite Melton is may have been the plan all along

I'm not 100% sure of that. I've yet to hear Marinelli use the term quick twitch. Seems that was Monte.
Anyway, my point was not about one or the other fititng our system. It was simply that I find it hard to believe that Jerry would think that our team as is, but with Allen instead of Ware is a SB team
