"If Jamarcus Russell was the Bears backup when Cutler went down, they would have won the superb owl"

That would be an interesting team. If you could combine the two of them into one QB you end up with either one of the all time greats or someone who'd have trouble playing high school football.

Wasn't there an unusual amount of seismic activity that day?

Crazy thing though.. when Russel showed up for teh Bears work out he was down to 267 to me thats impresive and shows a lot .. not that i would want him on my team but he has put in the (atleast physical) work to get back in the league..

I agree Kid. This dude needs to go sell cars or flip burgers or something. A stone cold waste of QB!!!

Considering his issue was effort, and he appears to be taking it seriously if he dropped that much weight, I'd rather take a flyer on him than Tebow.

JDM, I dont think tebow will stay very long at all.. Russel when motivated does well.. i am just not sold that the effort will remain once he gets a conracti guess it comes down to if you want a guy that has heart, passion and desire but lacks a lot of the skills, or a guy that has the skills but lacks motivation and gets discouraged at the drop of the hat..

It will have to. No way Russell gets any money guaranteed. The hint of slacking off and he's done forever.

I'm surprised people are not taking him seriously. he is a phenomenal athlete when fit. Why wouldn't a team with a terrible QB take a chance? Give him a backup spot and see if he puts the work in. if not, cut him preseason. seems like a low risk high reward situation.

:agree: When Cutler's your QB, desperation is warranted.

I'm sorry, but I think that's ridiculous. Cutler is one of the most underrated QBs in the league; he's just screwed from the get go because of his craptastic OL. Put him in an offense like the Falcons, Cowboys or 49ers and his numbers would be close to the top of the ranks.

If he's smart he'll sign elsewhere next offseason because the Bears have been ran terribly & aren't showing signs of getting much better in the management department.

I wasn't saying cutler is terrible. I actually have been impressed with him when I wathc him. I am talking about teams like the Jaguars, Cardinals, etc. teams like that should be able to take a risk that they can get a better qb than they have for cheap.

Ah. Gotchya. I thought by "team with a terrible QB" you meant the Bears.
