When I saw Jake Long in OTA's going through all the drills, I knew he is going to be back sooner rather than later.

Pretty much essential to keep that oline intact this year. Offense is going to have to be good this year or Schotty's gotta go

More than Schotty is gonna go if their offense can't improve. While I don't think they'll blow up the entire offense i think key pieces will go depending on how they play.

Sam Bradford.
Quick
Pead
Pettis

We all know what they have to do to be starting in 2015.

Why they are hanging on to Pead escapes any logical, valid reasoning. The best I can do is somebody has a major stiffy for this second round bust.

The only positive I've ever heard about the guy is that they really like him on special teams...Hard for me to believe that he is that important there to justify a roster slot for him...

well we're still at a 90 man roster. Unless he wows in Camp and preseason I dunno if he makes the final cut. However, if he does make the final cut and is not starting in some fashion then we know that Snisher have issues cutting people loose because of their pride. And that is not a good trait from a GM/Coach.

The bigger issue is why they thought this guy was worth a high second round pick in the first place when there were way better athletes available at the time but I think we have already hased the hash on that one.

It's called getting cocky. Rams knew they got the better end of the deal with the Redskins and they were floating on cloud 9 as they say. Once they got their head out of the clouds/asses they started making better draft picks.

Could they have done better with the Quick and Pead second round picks?

Sure!

But off season roster moves and drafts that year were still stellar!

  • The RGIII trade
  • FA Finnegan
  • FA Wells
  • FA Dahl
  • Drafted Brockers
  • Drafted Jenkins
  • Drafted Givens
  • Drafted Johnson
  • Drafted Zuerlein
  • And let's not forget UDFA & now Pro bowler Johnny Hekker!
Why people want to focus on these two probable misses (And I still have some hope for both these two) when we had so many hits with Snisher in their first off season is beyond me.

Thats all fine and dandy Vit but the jury is still out on a couple of those players that you think were stellar.

Givens? uuhhh
Johnson & Jenkins? uuhhh they were awful last year.

FA Dahl was brought over in the spag era. I think Wells was too?

Ya it's great we have a pro bowl punter lol. haha

I don't think their draft picks were all that great tbh. They were ok. Not bad by any means but most of these guys have just been average players tbh. And a couple of them have been bad.

I said the 'off season' was stellar not all on the list and it began with that RGIII trade!

Besides you're missing an important aspect when it comes to building a roster, these guys we picked up were all upgrades to what we had as opposed to 'all that great' as you put it....

Now Wells was with Snisher however you're right about Dahl. I just mixed Dahl up with Langford! (I knew there was another 'get' in free agency) So scratch Harvey and add Kendall. Oh and in double checking, I forgot Jo Lonn! Again, these guys aren't pro bowler just ALL upgrades from what we had!

Making your roster better is the objective of every off season.

Now Givens will be fine with Sam, he just had chemistry issues with Clemens...

Jenkins is better than average however had some trouble with reading Wilson's high ducks when he throws deep. Other than that, he played pretty well for most the season as I recall.

Pro bowlers aren't likely to sign with a team like the Rams in free agency, which is why Long was such a strong signing. Many harp on the Cook signing, but he was the leading receiver last season. Hopefully another season in the system along with improvement from the WR corps (and a full season with one QB) will see him take the next step.

I'm not ready to cast aside Jenkins and Johnson just yet either. I think the horrible DC and his system of playing the corners 8-10 yards off the line of scrimmage set them up for failure, so hopefully they show marked improvement this year under a real DC.
