Jairus Byrd signs 6 year deal with the Saints

I've been waiting for this one to play out. Curious what the final numbers are.
Reason being I think it sets the safety market for Earl Thomas' extension that I hope happens in the next couple of months.
Also seems like the NFC South is going to be good again.

That's ok because in 2015 fiscal year the Hawks cap looks excellent.

Ridiculous. I fully expect Earl to be around $8.5M. I think he takes a hometown discount and he was still paid well on his initial contract. He was still paid $18M over 4 years so not like he is getting Sherman money.

Either way $9M per year $28M guaranteed? That's just insane. I'm thinking Earl 5 years at $40M, $18M guaranteed. Or even 6 years at $45-48M. $54M.... lol. Saints are trying to mount a final run. That team is going to implode in a couple years with some of those bloated contracts and the ending of Brees.

I don't think Byrd's contract is that ridiculous. He and Earl Thomas are the two best FS in the NFL currently and he received a contract that paid him as the top FS in the NFL.

Average salary per year:
1. Eric Berry: $8.34m per year
2. Dashon Goldson: $8.25m per year
3. Eric Weddle: $8m per year

Unfortunately for the Seahawks this sets the cost for Thomas a bit higher, but it is not too far from what I expected Byrd to get.

Yah maybe 234. Still think it's pretty redic. I guess Kam is around $7 and change average, so no reason to expect Thomas not to get $9M. Oh well. Going to be hard to pay him and Sherm. Maybe they will re-structure some to stay together and Sherm/Thomas will take a hometown discount.
