I understand the article talks about the outing, but I have a hard time believing Shero and Jagr are getting together to discuss golfing. I'm not saying he will or won't be a penguin, but I firmly believe this meeting will involve more hockey talk than golf talk.

I would support it if the Pens were able to get Jagr back on a contract that wouldn't kill their cap. But, that's kind of why I don't see the Pens bringing him back.... money probably isn't an issue for Jaromir, these days. I just don't think he's going to be willing to play for peanuts, either.

And with the Pens cap, they can't afford much to still have room for their other needs.

I would absolutely support seeing 68 back in the Pens sweater. Why not? it seems to be the norm around this city for the past 10-15 years to bring back veteran players (steelers, penguins).

So, when do the Pirates bring back Tim Wakefield? :D

:L The bucs could fill out a fairly talented roster of former players. Wakefield is a good one to start with. Jose Bautista and Freddy Sanchez to name a few. I shouldn't bust on them... they're exceeding my very low expectations so far:laugh:

When it's been 18 years digging the same ditch, you would think that they've maybe tunneled themselves to the other side and there is now a sliver of light pinching through:heh: One can hope

This Jagr talk is very intriguing to me. I lived in the Burgh during the time he was the Pens captain. He is/was a legend in that city as I'm sure I don't need to explain to any Pittsburgh sports fans.... and the way he left still leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouths. Somehow, I'm sure he has to feel the same way.

If by some chance this talk turns out to be true, and Ray is really contemplating bringing Jaromir back, and not just for a golf tourney, it would be one of the greatest chances he/us would ever have to exorcise the demons that his ugly departure left behind. Jagr should be remembered as a legend in Pittsburgh. But, IMO he's always mentioned with the Barry Bonds asterisk in discussions of Pittsburgh sports.

In short, it would be awesome to witness. I really hope this happens, but I still have my doubts it really will occur.

He made over 4 million in the KHL last year... he is NOT signing for peanuts here, nor would the NHLPA want him to.

Besides, there are casinos in Pittsburgh now......... look the hell out.

I'd hate to have to watch Jagr die alive again in a city that embraced him....poor guy...

He'd have all the niceties that weren't here the first time. No more bankrupt hockey club, the home arena isn't a dump, as emu pointed out.. there is a legal place to gamble within city limits, he reportedly still owns a home in Fox Chapel, there is a fellow countryman on the current roster(he had that before:D) and.. oh yeah, 71 & 87 would be there to pitch in and help this time around

I don't care if he comes back to the NHL. I just care about whether or not he's going to be bringing back the mullet.

This is the first potential roster move I can remember that is both laughable and scary as hell from an opposing fan point of view. Maybe it's because I can think of no player that has whored the Capitals (both with us AND against us) as much as Jaromir Jagr.

This...

...should have never happened.

Eloco, bad deal all around for both teams. Jagr screwed the Caps and the Pens could have dug up 3 dead bodies that would have played better than Sivek, Lapuschak and Beech...
