I never said he was going to be a HR hitter. I just said he has no power, which means not as many extra base hits either. Maybe you're right that the ship has not sailed yet, but like I said, he's not progressing.

It looks like he peaked in 2012 and has been regressing since. He's extremely overpaid for how he's producing at age 25.

Find no argument from me. But I'm really surprised and disappointed.

When we signed him I thought JD had made a prudent move. And I knew he'd never have HR pop, but could see EA growing into a constant .275 hitter with gap power. Obviously both JD and I were wrong; at least as it stands for now.

Solid defense, outstanding base runner, a 260 hitter with little to no pop. Matters to me if he hits 2nd or 9th as long as he does what he's paid to do. I know I'm not happy with his mental lapses' and this country club approach to the game he's adopted the last 1.5 seasons. An attitude adjustment is required and I think Washington is in the process of addressing it.

I once considered EA a building block and still somewhat do, but it's his adjustment to the way he approaches the game that is required and if not corrected, makes him expendable down the road.

I'm wondering if you're getting EA and Profar mixed up? I don't recall reading/hearing anything negative EA's off season work. But I may have missed it.

I had forgotten that as well and for good reason when the point seemed to be he sat on the coach all offseason and ate chips. Guess that's the same as not playing winter ball and developing a sore arm first part of spring training to some.


No...Elvis has taken an attitude that he's arrived as one of the games star player. He's too loose and needs to put his nose to the grindstone, get back to playing the game as he did his first 3 years. It's not about driving the ball from the 2 hole spot or power. It's about being the player he is and working every minute at his craft. Like I said, it's all within his control and I'm all for packaging him in a trade if he doesn't get it.

I would tend to agree with you. He comes across as having arrived. I think Kinsler hinted at that during the period he was still hurt about being traded and I think there is some truth to it.

I think there is some truth to this as well. It shows itself on the field. Players must keep that edge to their game and Elvis appears to be all over the place and having one good time.

This remain my one and only bitch to the Elvis I'm seeing on the field this year and to a degree, last season. This is suppose to be where Washington excels. My expectations are high....we'll see soon enough

That Tanaka guy that some on here insist on bad mouthing just brought his record to 9-1 and lowered his ERA to 2.02 by beating a very hot team in the A's today.

Maybe everybody is gonna figure this guy out once he goes through the league 2+ times. But for now, he's spanking.

I'm comfortable with this move really. Although Tanner hasn't been lights out in his rehab, he's certainly proven he can be a valued option outta the pen. At least he certainly was last year. And his experiment with starting will take a little while for him to get totally back in his grove from the BP.

And this is not a knock on Poreda. Like him a lot, for our future.
