Mitch, some day you'll hit to your potential. Just don't think it'll be here.

You're probably dead right and I hate to admit it. Always been a fan and semi-defender of MM.

Exactly my point.....so frustrating.

Like romeo said, he should have been standing on the bag, no matter where it's hit, and react accordingly.

It's like they haven't been playing the damn game of baseball their whole lives, just flat out dumbass baseball

OK guys.....I've gone 1 for 2 in the last two series. So I'm booting myself out from setting up the Indian thread.

Seems more than fair........

Same here. But we gave him plenty of time to figure it out and still are.

Well, I wasn't optimistic about this game with Colby pitching, but we won. Still so very unsure of Colby, which is the most troubling of all that went on today.

I'm really disappointed Colby hasn't gotten back into better form by now. Not specifically in him b/c I know he's given 100% on all fronts. But it makes me think, perhaps this really is his "form" from now on and we deal with it how we deal with it.

I wish him/us the best. But our options are pretty darn limited.

The Rangers drafted high school shortstop Ti’Quan Forbes from Mississippi with the 59th overall pick.

He's the proverbial, "gave him enough rope to get the job done or hang himself." And unfortunately for all concerned he's got more lives than a calico cat to date.

But hey, seriously, the season ain't over, and due to our sordid situation, more rope has been ordered.

Not sure he won't get next year as well considering who knows how Fielder comes back or when. We have fewer options at 1B than we do pitching

Sir....with his speed he was going on first contact with a ball on the ground. You see it all the time. Make um throw you out....almost auto with runners at 3rd & 2nd. it was a base running mistake to take a first step towards the plate with the ball up, he had no shot the moment he did on that line drive to an OF playing in....but it happens. It certainly isn't the 3rd base coaches fault. I'm sure he went over the scenarios with the young player before EA got to the plate

I hear ya. And that's pretty scary all by itself. MM is arbitration eligible next season.

I'm still thinking - very very dependent on what we see outta Sardi/Odor for the rest of the season - that we don't start working AB at first some, with Profar/Sardi getting some time at 3rd.

Make any sense to ya?

Yeah....I think ya got me on this one. I "a little" overstated my case there, so I stand corrected.

However I will say, this type of base running blunder happens more times than not. It isn't just b/c he's young.

Makes sense until AB hears about it...... Oh I kid I think Beltre probably does whatever is asked of him with a smile on his face for the betterment of the team. As long as he is not asked to sit or DH only. I think he probably gets next year at 3B most of the time however. He would have to be pretty bad like MY bad the rest of this year cause he has earned it IMO

Agree with him going on contact on a ground ball and the scenarios I'm sure were given before. The problem was that after taking his secondary lead and the ball was hit in the air and not on the ground he broke for home rather than tagging which while I'm sure Pettis on contact probably yelled "back" but after he broke a few steps toward the plate he had to return to 3rd. The fortunate thing was that the ball was hit to the outfield and not lined at an infielder that would have probably doubled him off after the break towards home. MM still had a chance to get him home and didn't. The fact that the run was not needed means you can take the opportunity to coach the player and he doesn't feel like a goat and next time he may score, or hell maybe he gets hosed at the plate by a great throw. drafted two high school players that fell to us. Which means we'll likely have to sign those two to over the slot value and then reach a little bit in the next couple of rounds. But still, very excited, especially about ortiz. I've been advocating getting a young power arm for years now that we can develop

I certainly hope for great things to happen with players from the draft, especially guys chosen in the first couple rounds but I have a hard time getting vested in a player out of HS that in reality is 3-4 years away from making an impact on the field or may not sign with the club at all. If those players remain in the organization and healthy and make it to the big leagues with the Rangers then fantastic, I will be ecstatic. I remember being thrilled when Purke was drafted and then well, we all know how that went. I will temper my excitement until down the road a piece
