Drew Stafford and Thomas Vanek picking up their game with Roy gone for the season,

"You don't want to fold up when you're down. It's not in your game plan," said Stafford, who has four career hat tricks -- two in eight games. "We knew if we kept battling, we had a chance to take this game."

Vanek also had a goal and an assist tonight. Connolly had two assist as well and it's nice to see others pick up the slack when your team has a top player go down with injury.

Not saying the Sabres will make the playoffs but it makes us fans feel better when guy's work hard and step up. It was also nice to see Myers back in the line up and even better when he dropped Chara along the boards with a nice check.

Most fans are realistic when it comes to their teams chance's as far as championship expectations are. As a Sabres fan I know ours are very very slim but will always appreciate a good effort.

I think Flames fans are in the same boat, Boss...Nice to see the increased effort of late and the results. Still a longshot to make the playoffs, but things aren't looking quite as bleak.

I was impressed when I saw the Flames play the Sabres. Fans appreciate an effort and if they are not as talented as the opponent and loose they still respect the fact that their team laid it all out and worked hard. Not suggesting at all that the Sabres have more talent (because they don't) but the Flames brought the lunch buckets and deserved the win.

Now if a team throw's in the towel that's another thing, then the fans have a right to be pissed.

Again the Flames impressed me because they gave an effort and it's hard not to appreciate that.
