I mean the guy is old, injury plagued for years, is beyond his prime in a contract year and the GM will not let him go at any cost, he is in the process of locking him up to retire a Phillie. I just don't get it, is he the phils version of Jeter as the Franchise will not cut ties with this man. I know it speaks alot about loyalty but it also says alot about the lack of respect for mlb ready prospects that have nowhere to go except the bigs such as Asche, Ruf(needed fatman to get hurt to get a shot), Hernandez, etc. yet they continually bring in guys or trade for guys and give playing time to guys who have no business on this team let alone on a mlb roster such as M. Martinez, McDonald, Susdorf(seriously?), Diekman(opens the flood gates everytime), Garcia(come on man, wtf?), even the stiff known as D. Young shouldn't be on this team either, dude is garbage...

Sorry to be long winded but this is getting outta hand here, are they not gonna be happy till they are the oldest team in the league with the highest payroll only to be seller dwellers?? What is it gonna take to some youth on this team and a shot of adrenaline???

Oh yeah, Fuck You Ruben you jerkoff, you dismantled a championship team as quick as Gillick put it together!

Pretty sure Jeter stayed healthy a LOT longer than Utley.

Agreed. Utley was great when he was in his prime, but those days are long gone. I was previously on the fence about keeping him if the years and money were right, but the more I think about it, we've just got to start turning the page. Keeping an aging former star with my grandma's knees makes no sense. Trade him now while he's still got some value left.

And for the record, I'm not an Amaro hater. I think a lot of the moves he made were a result of the organization recognizing they had a window, he got the green light to spend and he went all in to try to win again. He inherited a championship team, and was tasked with keeping it rolling. Unfortunately, the players came up short, and now the wheels have obviously come flying off the proverbial wagon. For me, the next 36 hours are going to tell us what kind of GM we have. It's easy to sign checks. It's harder to make the kind of moves needed to get this team back to being a championship contender.

Delmon Young is garbage. Still hard to believe he's made it this long on an NL roster. Matt Stairs is a better outfielder!
