So we've talked a lot about Nebraska's proclivity for losing a couple games a year they probably shouldn't. Could it be that teams are seeing things in prep that make Nebraska transparent?

Heard a fan ask JP about this the other night on NSN, and he played it off. I went looking and found an article I don't remember seeing before.

Football: Sign-stealing may have given Cats an additional boost - Sports - The Daily Northwestern - Northwestern University

It makes sense to me. I remember last year thinking so many times it looked like the d knew where the ball was going at snap.

I remember the good ol' days when NU was physical/good enough to tell the opponent what they were gonna do..... and still do it.

No team could completely shut us down if we performed like we did Saturday against them.

When you get that kind of tempo going, there is not enough time for the Defense to even begin to read your play signals........they just sit there on their heels with their heads spinning.

I think this^^ is true.

However, first drive, first and ten?

The one JP was addressing was a caller sitting with a former linebacker that played somewhere in the last few years. The player could see the sideline and was able to call the defensive align / what backers were coming, etc.

It just made me think about teams like Oregon and Okie Light and how they code their signals. What made them jump from hand signals to code (images)? Maybe I'll look around...can't remember reading about it en sech.

Edit: It seems the Jan 1, 2010 Rose Bowl is when the Ducks decided to change theirs to images. They felt like Ohio State was maybe reading their hand signs.
