Reason not to get crazy on years.
this is year 3 of a 5/145 extension Sale signed. he's made 11 regular season starts in those 3 years.
You can get burned in free agency like this, in a trade like the Kluber trade, or by counting on a prospect who doesn't pan out. Nothing is guaranteed.

One thing is for certain. You have to be willing to gamble in all three areas. Unless you are one of the top 5 or 6 revenue teams, you are going to have to gamble heavily on prospects, while gambling on a few free agents and a trade or two.You can get burned in free agency like this, in a trade like the Kluber trade, or by counting on a prospect who doesn't pan out. Sometimes people only see the prospect route as a gamble, but trades and free agency are too.
I think the keys are to be able to eat some sunk costs and to be able to move on from mistakes.

What is their process in ranking players? Seems impossible to rank a 17-year-old.Also from Jeff Wilson:
Evan Carter, who turns 20 later this month, is the highest-ranked outfielder in the Rangers’ system by Baseball America, followed by Dustin Harris, Aaron Zavala and 17-year-old Anthony Gutierrez.

Let them be absent. Let’s get Rocker out of the public relations mode and into pitching. Hope they change his time in AZ to some realSome notes from Jeff Wilson about Baseball America 's ranking that came out yesterday.
There are a few notable exceptions, namely the recently drafted Kumar Rocker and Brock Porter (and former first-rounders second baseman Justin Foscue and right-hander Cole Winn).
The highest of the 2022 draftees is No. 2 overall pick Druw Jones at No. 21. That’s 20 spots higher than No. 1 overall pick Jackson Holliday. No. 5 overall pick Brooks Lee is one spot ahead of Holliday. Termarr Johnson, the No. 4 pick, is ranked 46th.
Rocker, No. 3 overall, and Porter, one of the highest-ranked pitchers in the draft, are absent.
He might be the summer school type but maybe he streams during detention. LolI think schools are still out for summer
Pudge and Juan were younger than that when they said those two would be special. What is their process in ranking players? Seems impossible to rank a 17-year-old.
