Putting Terry Collins on the hot seat already seems a little silly. Most Mets fans think the team is still a year away because of their offensive limitations (and perhaps, defensive question marks). Everyone pretty much agrees that Collins is an average tactical manager, but is well-liked by players and has gotten a reasonable performance from the teams he's been handed over the last couple of years.
Really, it's team OWNERSHIP that Met's fans would like to see on the hot seat instead IMO. Alderson has done a decent job of rebuilding the farm system, but the Wilpons have hamstrung everything because of their lack of financial resources. As a result, the Mets need to depend on guys like Cuddyer and Granderson to have big years instead of having a young stud or two to build the offense around. Until that changes, or some of the young position players in the minors pan out, Collins will struggle to produce a really consistent winner.
