Not 100% invincible, but at least 97%.

Well we know he is not invincible at all on clay anymore, but RG and best of five combination is where the question will be answered this year.

Nadal has nothing more to prove but he has my blessing for the record break at RG. Clay is not the easiest surface to win on as you age by any means. The high level of physical endurance falls of with age

The way Zverev handled Nadal’s shot to his backhand side was very disheartening to see from Nadal’s point of view. He couldn’t exploit the backhand wing of Zverev who has a five inch extra height compared to Federer. Six feet four and above players have always nullified Nadal’s high rise shots to their backhand wings. Soderling was the first man to breakthrough at RG at six-four and that was at Nadal’s prime. Would be interesting to see Nadal go against the likes of Taitsipas or Daniil at RG with their one handed backhands.

He's looked as good as ever, the past 2 years at RG.

Wish Berrettini or Thiem could have won Madrid.

And it's too bad about Karolina Pliskova in the Finals. What a bad day, to lose 6-0, 6-0.

I remember Steffi blanking Natalia zvereva in the FO finals. In ‘88 took 32 mins. If Graf had a one handed topspin backhand she would have been able to dominate the game more ruthlessly.

How would you describe her backhand?

It was a slice that went deep into her opponent’s court, but she used it to set up her deadly forehand. Against double handers with heavy topspin like Seles it was a liability with it’s reverse spin if it landed short.

Steffi’s movement, determination and no nonsense focus is what gave her a winning formula and she had that forehand. With the lesser racquet and string technology of that time it was still a very formidable style of play.

She was called the no emotion ice queen, because her demeanor toward fellow players in locker room was not like a Federer’s. but she always handled herself on court with grace and without tantrums. That She was able to generate a lot of attraction and fan following even with her German efficiency and ruthless persona only goes to show that she represented tennis and not the drama and side nonsense we see from other players in both the male and female category. Wish she had married Sampras and not Agassi

Didn't she also use a slice with her forehand too?

I think she could hit that shot but didn’t use it much. Her forehand was a bit of flattening shot. Not the heavy topspin that a lot of her peers especially the Spaniards used like Arantxa Sanchez.

I tend to like flatter shots, more than topspin, on most surfaces overall. Maybe clay would be different.

What do you think overall, about the two types of shots?
