Yeah...that was a sad sight.
I'm old enough to say I even saw a couple of Jets games there. Still live an 8 minute ride on the LIRR from the new stadium. We all still say we're going to SheaYeah...that was a sad sight.
I have lots of memories from the Shea days....and by far, mostly good ones.
Same here, when our family then lived in Bayside Queens...the 1st NFL & MLB games I saw live, were at Shea thanks to my dad.I'm old enough to say I even saw a couple of Jets games there. Still live an 8 minute ride on the LIRR from the new stadium. We all still say we're going to Shea
I grew up a block away from the Bayside/Flushing border, my folks still live in that house. I'm about a 1/2 mile away. Born in 1970 so you have a few years on me.Same here, when our family then lived in Bayside Queens...the 1st NFL & MLB games I saw live, were at Shea thanks to my dad.
A Jets-Bills game in the old AFL days in 1967 (they won their only SB title the next yr) ..and a Mets-Pirates game in 1968. (saw Tom Seaver face Roberto Clemente ) (they won their 1st WS title the next season)
The wonder years. LOL
My parents sold that little house in Queens a few years later and we moved to a bigger one in Westchester County and lived there for about 6 years..and then in the late 80's, and long after my siblings and I had flown the nest years earlier...they ended up buying another house in southern Connecticut to retire in.I grew up a block away from the Bayside/Flushing border, my folks still live in that house. Sad story
Just curious...do we no longer have any worthy pitching arms in our pipeline any more??
