The "Mario Effect" in Pittsburgh is starting to produce talent. #7 Brandon Saad is a Pittsburgh area native. I know a few players from the area are in the league, but I don't think any player has been rated as high as Saad. Pittsburgh has been steadily becoming a "hotbed" for American hockey talent. Which only adds to the talent pool for the NHL.

Yes but the year Kane was selected number one the NBA also had a Buffalo native selected number one. I bet that's never happened before. At least I don't think it has.

Kitchener always seems to have someone go in the top 10. This year they have 2.

HMM. This is a tough one. I would probably take Nugent-Hopkins at #2 for my Islanders. However I think Garth would probably take the D-MAN. Adam Larsson.

The Isles have a lot of young forwards on the roster & more on the way. The blueliners we have coming are solid but another blue chipper would be great.

I'd be thrilled with the chance to draft Rocco Grimaldi,
but a heck of a lot of things would have to go right betwixt now and then.

Before the season started I was already thinking about THE WIZ trade watch. Followed by Where will MOULSON GO? With Rollie the Goalie for hire. I know it's early but I hope I'm not focusing on the draft come Christmas like the past 3 years. So far so good.
