quinton dunbar has 4 PD's and 1 int . the PDs are 3 rd on the team . not bad for an afterthought guy with limited PT

preston smith has 4 sacks , 3rd on the team again not a bad showing now after the season i will post more on this but i an tinkering with the idea you bulk up trent murphy and put him at DE

One of the pleasant surprises this year has been the emergence of a pretty darn good CB corps. Culliver, breeland, Blackmon, Dunbar Jarrett, DHall and the others. We find a good FS and we have the makings of a shut down secondary.

Agreed. Dunbar and Blackman have been incredibly important this year. Remember how horrible our secondary had been the previous few years?

As for Smith I have been thinking all along that the move would be to turn him into the DE. Still don't think he has the burst to ever be a good pass rusher from the OLB spot. If we retain Gillette (a must IMO) Smith doesn't have much a role on 3rd and 8 unless he is moved.

I think this speaks highly of Perry Fewell. He has done a great job with the defensive backfield. Makes you wonder what Rahim Morris was doing.

Hasn't it been widely speculated DHall might move to FS next year? I think that would be a good spot for him as he winds down his career. A nice stop gap until we can get a drafted rookie up to speed in a couple years.

He has actually been playing FS the last 2 games. His results have been mixed. He gave up 2 big plays when Watkins got behind him last Sunday.

hall is learning too so give him some time to learn . another thing lost in the shuffle is if jarret can play slot CB he should have skills to be a safety dont you think ?

another thing is plugging in long at center and kujo moving into the starting line up

and yes moving smith to de could work very well

also no reason to part ways with murphy . he is a good rotational guy at OLB

DHall is 32. He doesn't have much time. If I remember correctly, Jarrett was a S at VT.

DHall scares me back there too. Jarrett can play FS. Safety is going to be addressed in the off-season. I believe this is HAll's last year.

Woodson made this switch and played until age 39. Maybe DHall with more time to prepare can play another 3 years.

I was never a fan of Hall at safety and if these last games were a try out let's move on. Not only did he give up 2 big plays it should be 3, he misplayed the ball on another deep one but lucked out when it was dropped.

A quick look at Amerson and Rambo is also telling as we discussed before.
