Have heard from a few sources today saying it's pretty much done deal: Atlanta not Phoenix moving to Winnipeg. Announcement Friday

On Coach's Corner tonight, Ron and Don were talking about the Telus Cup (won by the Winnipeg Thrashers). Wink wink, nudge nudge.

I'd say wow, but it doesn't really surprise me. Only 2 teams had a worse home attendance as far as percentage of capacity (Phoenix, NY Islanders). Does this make Atlanta the first city to lose 2 NHL teams?

What was Atlanta's first hockey team? And which Canadian city did they move to?

Considering there seem to be at least two NHL teams in danger of being relocated within close timing of each other. Isn't there any way to see if a city/state has any call/interest in a hockey team? I mean I realize the warmer climates aren't as hockey crazed at the colder ones. But clearly that doesn't mean a hockey team in a supposed low fan base place can't make it and convert people into hockey fans.

Of course the NHL was smart in realizing hockey wasn't big in Cleveland because of the Barons short stint, so they put the team in Columbus instead. :L

So, does that mean that the Blue Jackets move to the Eastern Conference?

Or they could move Nashville to the EC...they would make more sense in the Southeast division.

I would think so. Will be weird having them in the southeast division though, huh?

Move Columbus to the SE and Minnesota to the Central and that leaves the Moose without a home. Move the Moose to Seattle. Win win for all involved.
