I was going to cut him a break about the "Blount is making Fantasy football fans happy today" but then he tells the punter he should have dropped on the 2 and give A Luck 3 shots to get 7 points instead of a safety and make luck go the length of the field for the other 5. Then I read this is his farewell game to retirement. Now I feel bad. He's someone's Grandpa. Ah fuck....

Anytime I get too down on an announcer I just think about all of the stupid things I would say if I had to fill 3 hours.

I mean, the vehicle is from the 30's, the uniforms are from the 20's, the pepsi bottles appear to be from 1942, and that kodachrome came out in 1912.

I think, what the punter is smart (giving only 2 points). If the punter went down near the end zone, they would have probably gotten a touchdown and thus 7 points. At worst, they would have a gotten field goal which is 3 points.

Dierdorf's call on that scenario was horrific.

Yeah, he was lost. A safety was probably the best outcome, though an incomplete forward pass wouldn't have been terrible, neither of which he made mention of.

The announcers were very confused and they never really cleaned it up after the fact. Btw, you're correct. A safety was likely the best outcome in that situation.
