Yeah it is. They killed over 300 school children for Christs sake. bombed an airport killing dozens, bombed a subway killing dozens. caused the derailment of a train killing dozens. Russia knows all too well the wrath of Muslim extremists.

Very true. I wasn't real happy with the way some people went nuts on "Taliban this" and "muslim that" as soon as the bombings happened... do not jump to conclusions. That said, if their interpretation of Islam is what caused this, let's not brush it under the rug.. but let's also not generalize an entire religion. It's a tough line for us to walk sometimes.

I think they're just way behind the scanner, since the scanner mentioned that about 15-20 minutes back.

Chechen Separatists. Not necessarily Muslim extremists. Islam is the predominant religion in Chechnya, but the majority are more traditional Sunni.

I'm sure there is a lot of bleedover between the Chechen Seperatists and Muslim Extremists, but one does not necessarily mean the other.

I don't think any fight for sovereignty justifies killing 300 school children in cold blood IMO.

I don't think that was his point at all. Merely that Islam is not the cause of all violence in Chechnya.

In fact, as 43 pointed out a lot of the violence there is predicated on Soviet/Russian occupation.
