holy butt-hurt, batman.

does he understand the meaning of Unrestricted Free Agent?
If Pitt wanted him that bad, they would have ponied up "a lousy $1.3m" more.

the writer comes off as a tad douchey.

lol UPDATE: Max Talbot to the Flyers. Five years, $9m. **** you, too, Max.

That's how the city feels...really. I liked what he said...hahah, this was right afterwards. Fresh wounds. Still though, he burned every bridge he has to the team/city/fans.

I didn't read the link because i hate that fat fuck. Not sure if this was in there but at some point today on his radio show he said Crosby will not re-sign in Pittsburgh because they traded his friend (talbot) and shero refused to get him a winger in FA.

Fuck You Mark Madden. Go back to the WCW.

Yeah, I didn't hear that part. Idiots said the same thing about Colby Armstrong. They act like this is Middle School and you get all sad when your BFF leaves...it's work. It's like a work friend moving for a new job. Stinks, yes. But you're not gonna leave just because they did.

lol... I can imagine the haterd for Jagr now from Pitt fans, but blame the organization, not the player. These guys are playing for money, if it was that important to the Pens and their fans they would have paid him that little extra to have him finish out his career there.

Instead, lol, he goes to Philly.

This^ Thank you.

If Shero and Mario approached this as we're making one offer and that's it, they really aren't negotiating. And when you aren't negotiating, you can't be shocked when the only option you've given the other side is "no."

While I understand the fans feel 'Jagr played here, he should want to end here.' That cuts both ways. Jagr could feel that after all he did for that organization (two Cups), they could give him one million more and make any offer reasonable to what is he worth and what others are offering.

My opinion of Mario has really dropped in the last year or so.

Also, saying they won't retire his jersey is insane. For being an over-the-hill winger for another team for one year? His jersey should and will be retired there. It just might take longer now.

He was a Penguin 10 years ago and it did not end well, why would anyone be surprised he did not sign there?

The funniest part is where he compares Jagr to Lebron, really what is he leaving south Pittsburgh to take his talents to south Philly, lol. What a fuckin joke that was lol. How about we trade him back to the Pens for Jordan Staal, then everybody's happy.:fencing:

I don't get what people don't understand.

I don't really care about Talbot because a guy like that needs to get his pay day in his prime years.

But Jagr? He strung Mario and co. along for weeks with all this "my heart is in Pittsburgh" and I owe Mario my life bullshit. I have no idea what Jag's motivation is. You can all say this is just a business, but he's clearly not doing this just for money or he would have stayed in the KHL.

I totally would have supported him anywhere else, but this is just a big middle finger to Mario and the organization. He's basically been saying if the Penguins give me a reasonable offer, that's where I'll be. They did and he was an asshole.

Madden has been Jagr's biggest defender in the media for years, so it's not like he was biased going into this event (against Jagr). Jagr just pissed on his legacy. End of story.

Hell, unless he goes to Philly and they win the Cup this year. Then Philly can pull a Colorado and retire his jersey because we're sure as hell not going to do it.

And I'm one of the people who never had any hate for Hossa, so you don't have to give me the "this is a business" lecture. I'm just saying the money thing doesn't seem to be a huge factor considering he could be making six million tax free in the K.

This is hilarious. A radio guy butt hurt because Jagr signed with Philly. I remember when Trottier left the Isles & won two cups with Pittsburgh. Believe it or not I was happy for him.

And no one would care if Jags signed with the Isle.

I'm not sure people outside of Pens fans can really appreciate how big of a slap this really was. I mean...this is a guy who was part of the Pens origination for 10 years, and is the second best player in the teams history. Business is one thing, but seriously going to the rival? The biggest rival? I Understand the money part of it, and the Pens weren't willing to make what was a potentially poor business decision and give him too much money. In fact, we would but RIGHT at the cap now if we had signed him to the Flyers amount and didn't sign Sullivan. He even said that he had more money on the table from other teams. He had more than the Pens in Detroit and Montreal, but for 800k more than those two, who are in better situations than Philly in certain ways. But Jagr went to Philly...for their right handed centers? Poor excuse Jags, I don't believe for one second this wasn't in spite.

“I talked to him once, and it wasn’t very long – just talked about the organization and how it would be. I didn’t talk to him since I was in the NHL. I didn’t promise anybody anything, that I was going back. The Penguins seemed like I did something wrong or something bad, and I don’t think I did something bad. If they feel like that, I cannot change their minds. I was a free agent, and I had my chance to pick wherever I think is best for me. Everybody does in the world. I have the option to pick. It doesn’t mean that if somebody wants you or they’re telling you they would like you to be on their team, that it means I have to go there – I still have the choice…”

Jagr goes on to thank and or credit for his successes the likes of Kevin Stevens, Rick Tocchet and Paul Coffey, but nothing, nada for the big guy and his supposedly “idol” Mario Lemieux. All of it was a bit eye opening and something that should offer some closure… the enigmatic Jaromir Jagr rides again. It is interesting to note that he mentions playing time… I chalk that up to the fact that he really wasn’t ready to share the spotlight with a marquee name, something he would have had to do in Pittsburgh, Detroit and San Jose (from my source).
