The cost to run the referendum is estimated to be $2 million, which Wang says he will pay, but only if voters approve the project.
With about 35 percent of precincts reporting, there were
23,919 "no" votes to
17,526 "yes" votes.
Still lots of votes to count
They got crushed :/ this sucks.
As stated before the abomination in phoenix runs free yet a team with true heritage can't even get a little bit of help from the league in keeping its head above water
I'm a little torn on this one...
I really want the Islanders to stay on the Island. That team has such a history, it would feel wrong for them to leave.
At the same time, I don't like the idea of public financing building stadiums.
What I don't understand is why did Hampstead reject the Lighthouse Project that was going to be privately funded? What was the objection?
Simple, the local politicians weren't going to get a lot of money out of it.
Word is the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Queens wants the Islanders. Brooklyn & Suffolk county are possibilities as well.
Yeah, but they could claim to have helped a huge development project that would bring entertainment and jobs. I don't get it. What a bunch of morons. That project looked awesome.
Sounds like the Queens want some Wang.
