when the other team only has one timeout left.

It forces the opposition to use their time out. It prevents
fumbles at the 40-yard line.

Ive never understood why teams dont kneel out. There have been way too many examples of fumbles trying to get the first down by bothced handoffs or getting stripped. But how many do you remember where teams fumbled kneeling and this happened?
